[edit]I have been adding Sheriffs and their seats from the Rev. Mr. Jackson's book. Entries between 1857 and 1875 are transcribed from contemporary manuscript additions in my copy of the book, which are not always easy to read. Apologies for any errors.
Because of the completeness of my source, I have preferred it in the event of clashes over dates etc with previous entries. I hope that's OK.

- There is a later list of sheriffs of Wiltshire, published by the PRO in 1898: Lists of Sheriffs for England and Wales from the Earliest Times to AD 1831, Public Record Office: Lists and Indexes, ix (1898), pp. 152-56. This includes a number of sheriffs missing for the earlier period, and provides alternative dates for many of those listed by Jackson. --04:05, 15 October 2009 (UTC)Alex Craven (talk)
