needs expansion

[edit]

the article obviously needs a much fuller coverage of the social, economic, political, and cultural history of Nebraska and the Nebraskans since statehood. I will try to add some sections with citations. Rjensen (talk) 21:30, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have never given much thought to concentrating on this article. I will follow your lead Rjensen. • Freechild'sup? 22:13, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
thanks -- I hope lots of kids in Nebraska will have an opportunity to use itRjensen (talk) 22:21, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The report on hispanic labor needs to be updated from 2003. The labor market has been adversely affected as of 2009-2011. There is a dispute between documented and undocumented imigrant numbers involved. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.19.44.20 (talk) 21:54, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This article focusses on post european-conquest history only, totally ignoring even the violent struggle between colonists and natives. It is thus obscuring large portions (millennia) of the territory's actual history. Until this is fixed, the article should be considered incomplete and perfunctory.

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Iowa and Nebraska lands10.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on November 9, 2014. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2014-11-09. Land offers in Iowa and Nebraska
An 1872 poster for the Burlington and Missouri River Railroad, offering land for settlement in Iowa and Nebraska. At this point in their histories, both states were attempting to attract immigrants and increase their populations, a form of boosterism in which the company participated. The railroad offered farmers the chance to purchase land grant parcels on easy credit terms; this poster advertises low prices, with 10 years credit and 6 percent interest. Through such efforts, railroads facilitated and accelerated the peopling and development of the Great Plains.Poster: Burlington and Missouri River Railroad; restoration: Lise Broer
