His middle name was Lupus? How unfortunate. Mike H 19:11, Jun 26, 2004 (UTC)

At least his first name wasn't "Peregrine"... ugen64 17:32, 29 Dec 2004 (UTC)
It was most likely given him after their Norman ancestor, Hugh Lupus, who has a colossal statue in the grounds of Eaton Hall.Cloptonson (talk) 22:34, 12 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Eldest daughters (d.o.b. missing).

[edit]

Grosvenor married in April 1852 and the article goes on to state that: "Their first child, a son, was born in (April) 1853." However, two sisters (Elizabeth and Constance) precede him in the article's list of issue although no d.o.b.is given for them. I would guess that Elizabeth was the elder of the two and that Beatrice was named after the Queen's youngest daughter (born May 1856) and so born after then (the next sibling arrived in May 1860). I can't find any sources online for the sisters' dates of birth but I'm going to alter the order of the list of issue based upon this conjecture - either way, Victor should be listed at the top as first born, primogeniture or not. Cracroft's peerage clarifies - Elizabeth and Beatrice were both younger than Victor. Elizabeth was born on 11 October 1856; Beatrice on 14 November 1858. john k (talk) 05:50, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
