The author should have updated the destination instead of creating a new article. UtherSRG (talk) 11:51, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps they should have updated the existing article; moving it would also have been an option. "Human mammary tumor virus" gets far more reported Google results than "Human betaretrovirus". However, the latter term is intended to encompass (what may be) a single virus linked to human conditions beyond just mammary tumors (see [1]). Neither term has any formal standing in the taxonomy of viruses. Plantdrew (talk) 02:11, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. But "move and expand" or "update and move" are essentially the same. Are you in agreement that the two articles should be merged, and just disagreeing over the final location? I'm fine with either title being used. - UtherSRG (talk) 11:08, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My bad in duplicating the subject. But the article should be titled Human betaretrovirus. I think that Human mammary tumor virus is incorrect. There are several cancers and autoimmune diseases linked with the agent - rather than just one. So I think that makes it problematic to name the agent after one disease.HRShami (talk) 08:24, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Do you agree the two articles should be merged, put prefer to have the title be "Human betaretrovirus"? - UtherSRG (talk) 10:45, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I support a merge to the title "Human betaretrovirus". Plantdrew (talk) 16:08, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, both the articles should be merged with the title Human betaretrovirus.HRShami (talk) HRShami (talk) 04:14, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
