Russia

[edit]

President of Russia sent a telegram, can anyone add it? --186.104.49.136 (talk) 23:26, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Colombian Reaction

[edit]

Colombia is not Chile's neighbour, the original source refers to a brother country, not a neighbour. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.84.41.8 (talk) 01:59, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Difference between Humanitarian Response and Condolences=

[edit]

Should we divide the article in to countries who have actually provided a humanitarian response, I quote Wikipedia on what that is: ¨Humanitarian aid is material or logistical assistance provided for humanitarian purposes, typically in response to humanitarian crises.¨, and countries who have only sent their condolences? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Manuelargentina (talkcontribs) 03:34, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Right. I was thinking, are mere words humanitarian assistance?92.1.71.206 (talk) 22:50, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I was checking other humanitarian response pages and none of them have ALL the list of countries which just said something about the catastrophe but only the countries that actually provided logistical or material assistance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Manuelargentina (talkcontribs) 03:36, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the condolences should go; we are talking aid here. Ericoides (talk) 10:22, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No,imho there is no reason to further make wikipedia even more bureaucratic than it already is.Please, for the sake of god don't do this .If ppl still insist to be so anal (sorry for the language) about this, just change the title of the article or something.(yes i know i am a unregistered user and that my opinion probably doesn't matter much if at all....but,still....) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.59.181.226 (talk) 15:46, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
With respect, 189.59.181.226, this has nothing to do with bureaucracy and everything to do with accuracy. Condolences are not a humanitarian response; aid is. Simple as that. Ericoides (talk) 06:42, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I just made an edit dividing the the National Governments section in two, Material and logistical aid and Messages of condolences, this is the first step, I personally think we should remove the Messages of condolences or move it to another place but ill leave that for discussion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Manuelargentina (talkcontribs) 02:16, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently charities and bodys like the ICRC are more than most countries did.--86.29.141.182 (talk) 10:31, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Timeline

[edit]

Why was the timeline article copied into this article? It has a separate article. And this article is already very long, with the badly merged timeline article, it's about 50k long now. Since the timeline will only grow (the 2010 Haiti timeline article is over 100kB) this seems like a very bad idea. 70.29.210.242 (talk) 05:37, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I only tried to recover all the National governments section which was deleted and is not on the Timeline article --Jor70 (talk) 10:41, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Chilean national fundraising

[edit]

As the page doesn't say it only covers the international humanitarian response, the local efforts should be mentioned, too. Most notably there was a telethon, raising about 60 million USD, Friday and Saturday (http://www.thepulse.cl/2010/03/07/chile-weekend-brief-march-6th-7th/), aiming for money to reconstruct houses as a priority goal. Given an economy with a GDP per capita of 14529 USD and a population of 20 millions, this is a very significant amount, the more so since it was given in 48 hours only. However, though being the biggest single event, it is by far not the only one. --190.161.142.101 (talk) 00:26, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
