Abstraction

The definition given relies on an online etymological dictionary and is at odds with the mention of Bergman’s use of colour to represent ‘the human soul’. So to limit it to images “that look like a person or thing” overlooks the representation of abstract concepts. Since almost no references are provided, the article consists of sweeping, unsupported statements and has no authority. Mental image is an article which conveys some of the complexity which should be dealt with here, and points to some of the references that might be used, though even that merely scratches the surface. I agree with this -- it seems that this article is trying to describe several different concepts under the same umbrella (e.g. conflating the physical/digital reproduction of images with the concept of a mental image), resulting in a wordy mess. ARoseThorn (talk) 02:25, 23 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
