[edit]And in 1993, Indio Middle School (public charter school of the Desert Sands Unified School District) principal Robert Block jumped out of an airplane in a parachute to the campus, he promised to do this if his students scored above-average in test scores. 67.49.89.214 (talk) 17:08, 26 July 2016 (UTC)
- It should be found on the internet if you look back 25 years of newspaper reports (the Desert Sun) about that public charter school. 12.218.47.124 (talk) 21:30, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
I believe the CV Weekly paper interview Lynda Carter, she had a home in Indio (or was it La Quinta). She should be listed as a famous resident in Indio. 67.49.89.214 (talk) 01:37, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
- Lynda Carter's main legal residency is in Potomac, Maryland, just one of many second home owners who don't want to pay CA income taxes. 12.218.47.124 (talk) 21:32, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
Indio was the 88th largest city in California back in the 2010 US Census, now 75th when it surpassed 100,000 sometime in the mid 2010s. It's called the "second county seat" of Riverside County but the true county seat is Riverside, 70 miles away. And indeed the largest city in the Coachella Valley from famous resort city Palm Springs to Indio's neighbor Coachella (2nd largest) to Desert Hot Springs north of Interstate 10. 12.218.47.124 (talk) 21:28, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
- I have team and league web sites, but not sure if the league already folded (Aug-Sep in 2018, which is one month in operation). The So Cal Coyotes [1], an American football team of the launched Developmental Football International play their home games in Shadow Hills High School football stadium. [2] They used to play in Rancho Mirage High School in nearby Cathedral City. [3] Adinneli (talk) 23:09, 6 September 2018 (UTC)

Gaming in Indio
[edit]Center of a major legal case in the 1980’s setting precedents for Indian gambling. Worth a mention?
The City had rejected card rooms in a referendum shortly before. However, there are earlier stories about card rooms in Indio, such as Carroll John Daly’s 1947 story “This Corpse On Me”, so it was likely legal earlier. Some mention of the status of gambling in Indio through its history could improve the article.
Also, Daly moved out to Indio after the war, and he and his friend and fellow crime writer Erle Stanley Gardner ( who lived not far away) would visit. This could also be worth mentioning.2A00:23C5:E0A0:8300:84E2:C0CD:E25:A7AD (talk) 17:54, 2 September 2019 (UTC)

Trains were operated to Colton on ...
[edit]About:
"Trains were operated to Colton on July 16, 1875, and to Indio (then Indian Wells) on May 29, 1876."
That's it? They built an entire railroad line just to run it exactly one day in each direction?!
Nah. Surely the wording should be fixed to read something like:
"Rail service to Colton began on July 16, 1875 ... and to Indio on May 29, 1876 ...".
