History: When did they start the planning, the land clearing, and construction?

[edit]

History: When did they start building it?

It went right thru my neighborhood (Armstrong and North Street) taking out houses one block north of mine for a width of at least a block. Those houses began to be moved in about 1956 or 57 I think. They were pouring concrete on the part just west of Peoria still in 1963 when they opened it up to west to 150. They (the politicians) were calling it the country's most beautiful stretch of interstate. I guess they had never been out of Illinois. WithGLEE (talk) 20:53, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Part of I-74 is now named for Ray LaHood

[edit]

The portion in question is the part widened in Peoria and East Peoria. Will (Talk - contribs) 08:41, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Further updates needed. The new I-74 Mississippi River Bridge was completed sometime in 2021 or ‘22

[edit]

Article should be updated sometime soon to reflect the recent finalization of the modern day 6 lane White version of the I-74 bridge between the Iowa and Illinois banks of the Mississippi River. 141.224.98.209 (talk) 17:51, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
