@the IP: please refrain from disrupting the article and changing a stable version without consensus. The sources that claim that Qal'at Bani Hammad is near Fez (such as Michael Friedländer) don't make any sense and have been superseded by recent scholarly ones. Hello M.Bitton, the sources make sense to me since he's called Alfasi. Even though Qaalat Hammad is in algeria today, what prevents it to be a village near Fes that holds the same name in the past? There is only one Qaalat Hammad (Qala means fortress). Besides, you haven't addressed any of what I said the reliability of the sources and the fact that the old ones have been superseded. Instead, you kept edit warring, casting aspersions and now that you achieved what you came here for, you are pretending to engage in a discussion. M.Bitton (talk) 22:36, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In your modification you didn't only move the source but also moved the entire version to an older one which suits you more, it's like you tried to mislead us, why though? A Britannica article that isn't written by a scholar cannot contradict what the secondary reliable sources say or be given equal weight to them. As a matter of fact, just today, I removed a stupid claim that was attributed to an unsigned Britannica article. I got no clue about your problem with britannica and Tlemcen. Uppon searching in Google books, the sources aren't clear and there is obvious disagreement (Algeria vs near Fez), since you insisted on recent sources here are some for "near Fez":

The second and the third don't contradict the cited RS (which are more specific) and the first is a reprint of an ancient source written by the likes of Heinrich Graetz and Louis Ginzberg. There is no reason, none whatsoever, to replace a specific location with a non specific one. Would you want to replace Fez with a city in the western Maghreb? I doubt it.
