Ranking in entrance examinations
[edit]Where Hadamard is reported as "having been placed first" in his entrance exams, the word "been" makes it seem as though someone put him there - moved him to the head of the line, as it were. I'd like to delete the word "been" unless someone objects. Mrpaulin (talk) 11:55, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

Untitled
[edit]Unless there are objections, I will delete the paragraph about Marie-Louise von Franz. Why should there be her (or Jung's or anybody else) theory about creativity in an article about Hadamard? Unless e.g. Hadamard himself thought that here theory was important or used it to develope his own ideas etc, but there is no indication of this right now. (In contrast, the mentioning of Helmholtz and Graham Wallas seems OK.) Let me stress that it is not enough that Marie-Louise von Franz herself referred to Hadamard in her work for her to be included in his article, unless one can argue that this is for some reason noteworthy/important/relevant etc (many of people have voiced their own opinions about Hadamard and his ideas on creativity...) - Since no one have come forward with a reason I am going ahead and doing the deletion. 90.229.231.115 (talk) 21:31, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
brother in law
[edit]So, if what is said below is correct (it agrees with what Robert Harris says in his novel)--and the article is correct--then Hadamard and Dreyfus were in-laws (of some kind) in both directions: Dreyfus' wife was a Hadamard, and Hadamard's wife was related to Dreyfus. Were they were all Alsatian Jews, too? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 110.168.234.104 (talk) 04:19, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
Hello, the french article states the wife of dreyfus was the daughter of his father's cousin, she was a kind of far away cousin, is it the same meaning that "brother in law"??? To me brother in law should be the husband of his sister, is it another meaning?Klinfran (talk) 12:27, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

ethnicity: jewish ?
[edit]Only his father was of partial jewish background, I'd not call this a jew. He is French. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.217.73.245 (talk) 21:50, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
ethnicity. Of what value to this article is any discussion of his ethnicity. The guy was a Mathematician not a rabbi or cantor. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.77.78.20 (talk) 15:22, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
