Illegitimate issue?
[edit]The Earl may have had an illegitimate daughter, one Eleanor Nottingham (b. 1394, m. 1416 Simon Cheney, b. 1388). She is in any number of Internet genealogical tables for Cheney/Chaney/Chesney, and the usual source given is _Le Fief de Quesneto_, by R.W.L. Chesney. I can't think of any other explanation. For an ambitious fellow, marrying an earl's daughter, albeit illegitimate, could have nevertheless improved his standing and opportunities. 24.94.44.253 (talk) 20:00, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
- I've deleted the statement concerning this alleged daughter from the article as internet sources state that she was born in 1392, years after John de Mowbray's death. NinaGreen (talk) 17:46, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
