Religion and roots

[edit]

An anonymous editor is repeatedly adding irrelevant information about religion and ancestry. Please note that

  • The payer's ancestry only matter IN THIS CONTEXT if the player has elected to be selected for the the national football team of his ancestral country - in this case, the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland football teams.
  • Religion has no place unless the player refuses on religious grounds to play on a Saturday or a Sunday.
  • In case anyone starts, the colour of his skin doesn't matter either
  • All of above can only be over-riden if a reference can be produced where it can be shown that the player wishes to be associated with these characteristics at every turn.

If you wish to discuss this further, please reply here. --Concrete Cowboy 13:27, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"handsome man" statement

[edit]

The statement "Jon Paul McGovern should not be confused with famous Scottish football referee, school teacher and incredibly handsome man, Mr John Paul McGovern." seems out of place in a Wikipedia context. R. Henrik Nilsson (talk) 12:34, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
