Use of the name Supremes

[edit]

I have removed this language from the article:

However, at other times (particularly in Europe) the group positions itself as “The Supremes.”[1]

The poster shows that use, but it could as easily be an assertion by the club as by the group. It could also be evidence only of an isolated misunderstanding. The assertion is original research in any event, being based on a conclusion drawn from primary evidence. Fred Talk 16:21, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Changed language to "is billed as..." This is a fact. The link is from an appearance in Australia. I also have photographs of posters from a 2009 show in Milan where they were billed as "The Supremes." Rewording eliminates attribution of who does the billing.

What you have done is original research; it is good work but not acceptable for inclusion in Wikipedia. Fred Talk 19:46, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Supremes

[edit]

The long-winded argument about entitlements to the name "Supremes" is WP:COATRACKing and really shouldn't form part of this article. Stifle (talk) 08:57, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

While it is also possible to make such requests on my talk page, it would be quicker for you to use those previous methods. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 12:27, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Response

[edit]

Edits by JollyJolly sound like text from a promotional brochure for the group. Subjective writing, stating that the group performed at “other notable venues” is not fitting in a fact-based account of events. Other statements, such as “In 1977, Mary Wilson hired her to perform as a member of The Supremes” are also not factual. Billing of Wilson following her departure from the Supremes appeared as “Mary Wilson of the Supremes” and “The Supremes’ Mary Wilson.” If the editor can find valid sources supporting the assertion that “Mary Wilson hired [Kaaren Ragland] as a member of the Supremes,” the edit should be made with a reference supporting it.

The statement that “The Sounds of the Supremes” is sometimes billed as “The Supremes” is a fact, supported by numerous referenced sources (see above). --Exguyparis (talk) 18:08, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring

[edit]

This page is constantly being controlled by a user with the same name as this page, Kaaren Ragland. Basically she is writing her own biography if she is this subject and she really is getting mixed up about how she is writing unsourced material and mixing it up with standards that are NOT encyclopedic. Basically, "Ragland", has to continue edit warring with any users and was warned about it by other users. She is removing citations off her page, and the page does not look better with that. TheGreatestLuvofAll ( chat with me ) 11:31, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The only thing she can try to make things look better is adding references to her BLP because there is a strict policy on the "Biography of Living persons" policy. So, every unsourced addition should be removed, and I undid it because none of that looked encyclopedic. She got angry about how I added sourced content to her biography, but still going to try and edit war with me. TheGreatestLuvofAll ( chat with me ) 11:39, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
