Upgrading the Rating Class

[edit]

Hello Wikipedians...

This is the first time that I have made a comment specifically on a Wikipedia page's Class rating. What made me do my first with this page, was because I just saw Dr. Corbett interviewed on Anderson Cooper's show on CNN tonight. After reading Dr. Corbett's page, I can see why the page's Rating Class is so low. I do believe that Dr. Corbett's importance should have her page much higher than it is, it's basically how the writing is holding it down. There should be a section just focusing on her work with Coronaviruses and her work on the current COVID-19 virus. And in general, the Career section could be written in a more concise way.

I just wanted to propose some initial observations as a starting point. I'm not going to make any editing, I just want to get the ball rolling on ideas to have the editing better.

Correction to what lab Dr. Corbett is based out of

[edit]

Made correction to the lab where Dr. Corbett is based out of. Dr. Corbett is based out of the Bethesda, Maryland lab. When checking the NIH Directory, it confirms this. I made the correction when I went to one of the articles linked in the beginning sentence saying where Dr. Corbett is based, the sentence said she's at the Seattle, Washington lab. But when I went to one of the linked articles (Link #3), the article shows a video that shows her talking to a group of people, including Dr. Anthony Fauci and President Trump at the Bethesda, Maryland lab.

We could also source this to https://www.microbe.tv/twiv/twiv-670/ (sometime in the first 10 minutes she talks about her bio and work life) although I suppose we just need that kind of sourcing if there is some question about it. Kingdon (talk) 14:50, 8 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Good idea. I heard that program. TWIV is probably the best source for an article like this. She's being interviewed by virologists and immunologists like herself. They know what to ask and understand what she's talking about -- and they make it understandable to non-scientists. Racaniello has interviewed about 670 scientists, so he knows how to do it. I'm going to add it to External Links at the bottom. --Nbauman (talk) 17:16, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Affirmative action

[edit]

It might be notable that Corbett was the beneficiary of the Meyerhoff Scholars Program and other STEM affirmative action programs, which have been responsible for a significant number of Black scientists. They have now mostly discontinued their affirmative action mission after a series of lawsuits by the Washington Legal Foundation, and the number of Black scientists has decreased as a result. After Years of Gains, Black STEM Representation Is Falling. Why? The share of Black students completing STEM degrees was growing until the early 2000s. What went wrong? Kizzmekia character traits

[edit]

I suggest that you put in her character traits so that people can actually get to see her on the internet and then if she has good character traits people would want to meet her and the good character traits would mean she would have a good attitude with the people who met her. 2600:8807:400:5560:40DC:4D6E:4E52:81A5 (talk) 17:52, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
