Kompakt stub vs Kontakt article

[edit]

This article is not notable, except in the context of Kontakt, which does not yet have its own article. I propose either re-naming and expanding this article, or moving/merging it with a new Kontakt article that I can draft. Not sure which course of action fits best within Wiki guidelines though, can other editors please weigh in? synthfiend (talk) 16:03, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Either method, merge and redirect or move, is fine. The issue is finding WP:RS sources. If you have some sources covering Kontakt, please go ahead and change the article's focus. Dialectric (talk) 17:24, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I began looking at this article due to its long-term notability query, and came to a similar conclusion, that Kompakt appears worthy of coverage here only in the context of Kontakt (sampler), which exists only as a redirect rather than an article. Synthfiend, if you think Kontakt can be demonstrated to be notable, one approach (seeking to preserve edit histories) might be (1) to add a section on Kontakt above Kompakt Program, then in quick succession (2) nominate the Kontakt (sampler) redirect for CSD G6 deletion; (3) reorient this article to be about Kontakt more than Kompakt; (4) rename the article to Kontakt (sampler). Per AllyD suggestion I have added a Kontakt section above Kompakt Program. I am not, however, familiar with the process for nominating the Kontakt (sampler) redirect for CSD G6 deletion. I will gladly work on revising and expanding the article to be more about Kontakt.synthfiend (talk) 21:53, 13 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Kontakt is absolutely notable. It has an almost monopoly on Sampling based instruments, and its a monpoly that NI exploits ruthlessly. If you release sample based instruments, chances are its a release for Kontakt requiring the instrument maker to either license Kontakt, or require the user to obtain a license. It may well be the most important piece of software on the planet for composers and producers. Duckmonster (talk) 12:06, 21 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have moved the article and updated accordingly. Feel free to expand it. synthfiend (talk) 14:43, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
