Text and/or other creative content from Laundry detergent pod was copied or moved into Tide Pods. The former page's history now serves to provide attribution for that content in the latter page, and it must not be deleted as long as the latter page exists.
I would expect the reason for introduction was convenience, not precise measurements. It is a hassle to carry detergent from the dorm to the laundry room and back again before someone uses/steals it. With this you just toss it in and forget about it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.66.127.136 (talk) 05:43, 9 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
For any one product there are numerous possible advantages and disadvantages. To the extent that independent reliable sources discuss those, Wikipedia should discuss them as well.
In the present case, we don't have sources for that. What we do have is a source saying that they were advertised "as a way to reduce wasted use...by having precise measurements for a load."
Whether they are more or less convenient (How many pods for a half load? What fragment of the world's population is living in college dorms?), more expensive, "fun", more/less effective, invites misuse, etc. are all topics for sources to discuss. Without that coverage, Wikipedia has nothing to say. - SummerPhDv2.012:55, 9 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
