There are a significant number of composers in this list who have composed solely or primarily popular pieces for brass bands, big band, etc. Do these have a place in a list of classical composers? Whilst there is some overlap, I would contend this is not necessarily 'classical'. One option would be to rename the list List of Belgian composers—which would have some logic to it as we already have a List of Dutch composers and various other national lists which do not specify genre. User:IronGargoyle has just spent a great deal of effort removing redlinked and ILL-linked names from this list. While I have no problem with the non-notable redlinked names, I do question whether ILL-linked names should be regarded as non-notable. There is at leas one other large composer list on English Wikipedia that respects links to other-language Wikipedias. There is a discussion on the Talk page of that article, which might save a certain amount of time, but I do think this ought to be discussed, and I am advocating restoration of the ILLs to this list.—Jerome Kohl (talk) 00:44, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
If we put the composers in a table, we can sort by date of birth which makes sense. we could also add a column for genre, which would maybe solve the brass band discussion above.
