Has signed today with Philadelphia. He was a Real Salt Lake player at the end of the season. Antoinefcb (talk) 02:25, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

He was actually traded the day after the Expansion Draft. – Michael (talk) 22:57, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reference Reliability

[edit]

I would refrain from using such web sites as "Goal.com" as the reference for transfers. Goal is simply a gossip website and they are known to exaggerate headlines and claim transfers as official when they actually aren't true. It is a fun website to read and it is useful as a starting point. Again, it is not reliable enough a site to use as primary evidence for a transfer.

Also (just a sidenote), do not use the "Edit Summary" field in the Editing page section as a conversation tool. Wikipedia has created this Talk section for a reason. Thanks. Acmilan10italia (talk) 10:48, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notes to All Editors of this page

[edit]

Here are just a few notes on some frequent editing conflicts that I have seen over the past few months on this page...

1) Write the name of the team as suggested on its Wiki page, unless there is more commonly suggested name. (Example: AaB Fodbold becomes Aalborg BK. A.C. St. Louis does not simply become 'St. Louis' because it is not suggested on its page as a more frequent derivation.

2) Dates should be the dates that the transfer was completed, NOT when the article was written. Make sure to verify this as many articles are written after completion dates.

3) see above discussion entitled "Reference Reliability".

Thank you for your time. Acmilan10italia (talk) 11:11, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unattached Moves

[edit]

I think we should plan out if we are going to add moves of unattached players or vice versa (ex. a player that is released and become unattached). I say if we do include them, we should include all of them instead of just 1 or 2. I removed the Rauwshan McKenzie listing for now until we come to a decision. I know there are other moves such as the Leo Krupnik move as he was released from the Red Bulls.

Also, I don't see an unattached move as a "transfer" per se. I think a transfer is strictly a movement from one legitimate team to another. Acmilan10italia (talk) 03:12, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Here's the deal, Leo Krupnik was released so he shouldn't be listed on here. As for McKenzie, the removal was not necessary considering he did indeed sign with Real Salt Lake. Finally, I know it's a little confusing and kinda rediculus but apparently an unattached move counts as a "transfer" if a player was signed by an MLS team as a free agent, but there were times when we had to list the previous team on this list, McKenzie is the only exception for now. We've done that on other transfer pages before and still do that. You understand what I'm saying? – Michael (talk) 04:21, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
