Notable Characters Need To Be Added to Episode 16 Beetle Mania

[edit]

It should be mentioned that there are several Marvel characters that make cameo appearances in this episode. Characters such as M.O.D.O.K. being released by Beetle, & Beetle doing business with Dr. Doom. And others placed in humorous situations featuring Galactus, Wolverine, Sabertooth, and Doc Samson.

There should be an additional note placed with this same episode stating that in this series, Mary Jane is an aspiring journalist, unlike her movie counterpart, & previous versions that wished to be an actress.

I'd do it myself but I always seem to have issues with linking to other Wiki articles and doing the signature at the end. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aidensdaddy2k9 (talkcontribs) 00:50, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I hope no one minds, but I added just the note about Mary Jane wanting to be a journalist, as opposed to her comics version wanting to be an actress. I noticed a few of the other above mentions was added, and I left them as they were. I just felt only the MJ part could be added. The only other mention of the difference in characters is on the main Mary Jane article. Aidensdaddy2k9 (talk) 02:26, 27 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Such analyses should not be added unless they are relevant to the plot, and supported by reliable, secondary sources. See WP:TVPLOT. Nightscream (talk) 02:21, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Episode 5

Animation Age/Toonzone

[edit]

I don't think we can consider the Marvel Animation Age (aka Marvel Toonzone) a valid source now that the site will no longer be updated.[1] Particularly concerning any updates to the show's schedule made on the site's episode guide.[2] While such announcements were previously accompanied by a larger press release (such as this), the information on the episode guide isn't backed up by any material, and can't be considered credible.
LoveWaffle (talk) 09:04, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Per this discussion, it appears Toonzone is not to be considered a reliable source. Any unsubstantiated information from Marvel Animation Age will be removed.
LoveWaffle (talk) 05:47, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article protection: Pop culture references, Toonzone citations, etc.

[edit]

Two things...

First, why is the page protected against edits?

Second, the "label maker" running joke in Episode 15 may be a reference to the Seinfeld episode "The Label Maker" (S06E12).

Celedam (talk) 05:10, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

User:DeltaQuad protected the page because there was a dispute between User:111.223.183.228 and User:LoveWaffle over the color of the table borders in the article. —Lowellian (reply) 09:10, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That's inaccurate. There were two or three different unregistered IPs adding unverified information to the page, amongst other things. The color of the table borders was only one issue.
As for the label maker joke itself, I doubt it. But even if it is, it's hardly notable enough to warrant a mention.
LoveWaffle (talk) 16:42, 26 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I have changed the protection level to semi-protection so that it is only protected against new and unregistered IPs. The page should be protected because a number of IPs were persistently doing the following:
  • Replacing the valid, TV Guide citations with a Marvel Toonzone citation that does not support the material in question. Even if the latter did support the material, editors could certainly add it as an additional citation (though some may think that redundant), but that does not justify removing the citations already there.
  • Reformatted the episode air dates by completely removing the date templates.
  • Adding ordinal suffixes to the dates, which Wikipedia does not use.
  • Did not provide edit summaries in which they provided a valid rationale for this.
  • Violated Wikipedia's civility policy, with the following edit summaries here and here by User:111.223.183.228 and this one by User:175.157.219.132 (which is likely the same editor, given the similarity of the summarwies and the fact that both IPs are traced to Sri Lanka).
To be fair, User:LoveWaffle should've tried communicating to the editor or editors why these edits were non-constructive by opening a dialogue on the article's talk page or on the IP's talk page (or perhaps asking another editor or an admin for help), and his characterization of their edits as "vandalism" was incorrect, since the IP edits were likely good-faith errors derived from newbie inexperience, which is not vandalism, but I've clarified this, I hope, with messages on the talk pages of all the editors involved. And if those IP editors wish to edit and are willing to follow the site's policies and guidelines, they are free to sign up for a free account, which is free, takes only seconds, and allows the community to get to know you as an individual.
As for pop cultural references, they should not be added unless they are relevant to an understanding of the plot, and supported by a citation of reliable, secondary sources. Please see WP:TVPLOT. Nightscream (talk) 02:14, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I did both of those things. I left the notice above concerning the validity of the ToonZone references (albeit a bit late), but also took it to the Request for Page Protection page twice - once to initially report on the issue[3], and then again once I was near (or at, I wasn't sure) 3RR[4]. Is there anything else I should have done?
LoveWaffle (talk) 19:23, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for overlooking the "Smartass" comment that was being added into the article from three different IPs: User:175.157.10.124, User:111.223.183.228 and 175.157.219.132. That was definitely vandalism, and a violation of WP:CIV, as were some of the edit summaries. They were all apparently made by the same editor, as all three of those IPs are traced to Sri Lanka, as is the IP 175.157.1.119, from which that editor asked for assistance from me (again violating WP:CIV with his/her comments), and 111.223.191.166, from which the second of the two recent additions of unsourced material originated. (The first, User:72.253.194.0, is traced to Honolulu.) I responded to his/her request on the User talk:175.157.1.119 talk page, informing him/her that these edits indeed constituted unsourced information, vandalism, incivility, and possibly sockpuppetry. Nightscream (talk) 06:04, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Small Note To Be Added?

[edit]

Shouldn't there be a note for Season 2 Episode 2 that Electro is voiced by actor Christopher Daniel Barnes, who provided the voice for Spider-Man in the Spider-Man Animated Series? I'd add it myself, but I don't want to step on any toes. Aidensdaddy2k9 (talk) 23:51, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Given the capsule-sized nature of the synopses, I think it might violate WP:TVPLOT and/or WP:TRIVIA, but perhaps adding it in the main article would be more appropriate? Nightscream (talk) 16:33, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Then I guess its a good thing I didn't add it. Thanks. Aidensdaddy2k9 (talk) 18:02, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ep. 20

[edit]

[5], it says on the schedule that Game Over is the 20th episode of Ultimate Spider-Man, so that makes Blade and the Howling Commandos, Ep. 21, Second Chance Hero, Ep. 22 and Sandman Returns, Ep. 23 76.188.116.60 (talk) 21:16, 15 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

"Blade and the Howling Commandos" is actually two episodes. The first entitled simply as "Blade" has already been made avaialable online. http://www.watchcartoononline.com/ultimate-spider-man-season-2-episode-21-blade-and-the-howling-commandos The title of the second part is not currently known 67.182.15.105 (talk) 00:40, 2 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not done:. The source you give identifies it as episode 21, with the full title. It lists episode 22 as The Iron Octopus. --Stfg (talk) 13:17, 6 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Episode 21 "Blade": <http://www.justanimedubbed.tv/ultimate-spider-man-season-2-episode-21/>

Episode 22 "The Howling Commandos" <http://www.justanimedubbed.tv/ultimate-spider-man-season-2-episode-22/>

Already fixed: justanimedubbed.tv is an alleged copyright-violating site, so we cannot link to it. In any case, I don't see the information on those pages. However, someone has corrected the listing of these two episodes, citing zap2it.com. --Stfg (talk) 09:25, 17 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings,

the remaining episodes for season 2 are now available to view on zap 2 it:

Also please note "Blade & The Howling Commandos" although originallay aired on Disney XD as a one hour special on the evening of 10/5, is acutally two seperate episodes "Blade" being S2 E 21 & "The Howling Commandos" being S2 E22, you will notice Zap2it has the listings a bit erroneous (showing Howling Commandos as a "27th" episode" but this confusion comes from the initial 1 hour broadcast vs the subsequent airing of both of these episodes seperately on 10/6 & 10/13 respectively. Any updates to reflect the remaining episodes is truly appreciated. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.214.21.5 (talk) 15:19, 17 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Introducing characters note

[edit]

I understand if the "Introducing characters" note is questioned as I question it myself sometimes, and would like to know if this is indeed an official Wikipedia rule for cartoons based on comic books. Of course, if there isn't then there might not seem to be any reason not to have it, but it seems a little trivial and perhaps might border on or something similar to WP:DISCRIMINATE. I mean, there are wikias devoted to these TV cartoons, and it seems a little trivial to have to include these things for the sake of it. It gets a bit ridiculous too, if something needs to be properly noted down, such as a character's real appearance if their first one was really just an imposter, but saying Spidey's first appearance is in the first episode is a given, it's his show after all. -- Anythingspossibleforapossible (talk) 05:52, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

As a television series, MOS:TV is applicable and there is nothing in the MOS that says such content should be included. The instructions for {{Episode list}} specifically say that the ShortSummary field should contain "a short 100–200 word plot summary of the episode". There is no requirement for anything other than a plot summary, and even that is optional. There is some leeway for other content, but things like "saying Spidey's first appearance is in the first episode" should definitely be avoided. --AussieLegend () 11:55, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There's actually a hidden message saying it shouldn't be included, yet this is being completely ignored. I'm not sure why it was put/left there to begin with as it's not being followed. So is it okay remove these now or do we need more votes/opinions. -- Anythingspossibleforapossible (talk) 13:57, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If you choose to boldly remove it I'm certainly not going to restore it. --AussieLegend () 15:00, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Edit war

[edit]

This is turning into an all-out edit war. I suggest having this page locked for a while until it blows over. -- Anythingspossibleforapossible (talk) 10:35, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why are some people against listing "Introducing characters" notes below the episodes' summaries. Listing character introductions for cartoons based on comic books has always the case, why now all of a sudden there are people who are against that, and why this comic book cartoon series specifically?
It's even worse that they list the episodes specifically in airing order as oppose to number order while both orders are not always perpendicular. Two of the episode were aired out of order for promotional reasons. They were never meant to be where their airing dates would put them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.53.154.35 (talkcontribs) 12:35 30 October 2014‎ (UTC)
There is nothing in MOS:TV that supports inclusion of such information. Why there is opposition to inclusion at this article and not others is irrelevant. Such disputes are treated on an article by article basis. --AussieLegend () 14:03, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This episode has been aired in India, please add it to the episode list.[1] XpRienzo (talk) 11:20, 12 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@XpRienzo If you can find a useable, reliable source to use as a citation then there is no problem with adding the episode. Note that most videos aren't considered reliable sources unless posted by the official copyright owners themselves (in this case, Marvel Entertainment or Disney XD). Also note that IMDB isn't considered reliable either.Darkknight2149 (talk) 14:58, 12 February 2015 (UTC)Darkknight2149[reply]

Has an episode aired in 2015 yet?

[edit]

Someone not signed in to an account (24.54.219.143) recently edited the article claiming that the Season 3 episode "Rampaging Rhino" just aired on March 1, 2015. Can anyone confirm or debunk this?

We need to know before we change the section from "Season 3: Web-Warriors (2014)" to "Season 3: Web-Warriors (2014-2015)" because we can't put 2015 until an episode has actually aired in 2015. Darkknight2149 (talk) 20:31, 2 March 2015 (UTC)Darkknight2149[reply]

Air dates

[edit]

The air dates have now bee disrupted beyond recognition. The Futon Critic dates are wrong. You can find the correct air dates on the official Marvel Wikia here; http://marvel.wikia.com/Ultimate_Spider-Man_(Animated_Series)_Season_3_1 Someone else can do it. DocHeuh (talk) 02:49, 21 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@User:Heuh0 Other Wikis are not considered reliable sources (and the Futon Critic is). Do you have another source other than the Wiki? Darkknight2149 (talk) 03:28, 21 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sure if I look I can. While not a reasonable source, I know for certain the Futon Critic dates are incorrect because I has watched the episodes months before these dates. DocHeuh (talk) 03:31, 21 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If you can find a reliable source to back up that the dates that are on Marvel Wikia, then it should be fine to change the article if no other editors object. Did you watch the episodes on the internet? I ask because some episodes were leaked on the internet before they aired. Darkknight2149 (talk) 03:51, 21 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, bringing this back up. If FutonCritic is unreliable, then about Zap2It? Because FC and Zap2It's air dates for some of these episodes are very different, though according to the airdates posted on the Wikipedia, Zap2It's air dates are the ones being mostly used. For example, FC's airdates for the "Spider-Verse" episodes are listed as episodes aired in 2015, but Zap2's listed it as episodes that aired in 2014 in September, which are the UK dates, I'm guessing based on the preview clip for Spider-Verse Part 1 posted on DisneyXD UK's YT page on August 31, 2014. That being the case, the Marvel Wikia goes off the UK's airdates. But here's the thing, we all know episodes like "Halloween Night at the Museum" and "Nightmare on Christmas" aired completely out of order. Zap2's listings showed that both of these episodes 2014 on December 3, which isn't true, because FC lists "Halloween Night at the Museum" airing first on Disney Channel on Oct. 10, 2014, and then again on DisneyXD on Oct. 19. "Nightmare on Christmas", however, does share the same airdate, Dec. 3, 2014, on both FC and Zap2. Looking at the official preview clips on the official Marvel Entertainment YT (thankfully, they still have most of them up, not all), some of the episodes in Season 2 like "Stan by Me" seems to follow the listings in FC than Zap2It? Zap2 lists that particular episode's airdate as June 30, but FC crossed the date out on their listings, and the episode is rescheduled for Aug. 4, 2013, which lines up with the fact that the preview clip was posted on Aug. 1, and Marvel Entertainment always release clips about on Wednesdays to promote the episodes' airings on Sunday mornings.--68.11.91.158 (talk) 18:55, 31 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Episode Order

[edit]

I have changed the episode order and will explain why. I made it like every other episode list by putting them in airing order. The previous ordering made no sense and appears to be production order. The production numbers can be added (IF they are reliably sourced). The number of episodes for season 3 appears to be an assumption because there is no source. We don't need all those "2015" either. Dcbanners (talk) 21:53, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This new order is absolutely ridiculous. I'm 100% sure the episode "The Return of the Guardians of the Galaxy" aired when it did as an advertisement for the then upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie, as the episode makes no logical or continuity sense being sandwiched between the Season 2 finale and the "Avenging Spider-Man" two-parter. As for the Halloween and Christmas specials, it's pretty obvious why they aired when they did. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.53.154.35 (talk) 08:52, 26 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Are the dates for the "Spider-Verse" episodes truly false?

[edit]

Despite the March 2015 airdates (United States) for the "Spider-Verse" episodes being backed up by reliable sources, multiple editors are claiming these dates are false. Their only justification for this so far is that they watched the episodes months ago, therefore the dates are incorrect.

One key thing I need to point out to everyone is that the episodes were LEAKED onto the internet months before they aired, so if you believe the airdates are incorrect simply because you watched them on the internet, then you are probably mistaken. Episodes of television shows leaking onto the internet before they air isn't all that uncommon, especially if they air in other countries before the United States (or whatever the show's native country may be).

I would also like to point out that no editor has provided a reliable source to back up that the March dates are incorrect, therefore this can't be reflected into this article anyway. Darkknight2149 (talk) 19:09, 24 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Advertisement shows that the month of March is dedicated to the Spider-Verse saga. Foreign air dates don't count. Only US air dates should be taken into account. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.53.154.35 (talk) 08:56, 26 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

We can add the UK air dates because they aired some episodes first. However, the episodes must be kept in the U.S. order. Dcbanners (talk) 10:33, 26 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Airdates for the last 6 episodes of season 3 are currently unknown

Season pages

[edit]

I think there should be season pages. It's been going longer than both Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012) and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., yet both of the latter shows seemingly were given season page almost instantly. Maybe neither of those shows should've been given season pages, the TMNT one seems to just have been given it simply because of the length of the previous incarnations. But if they are allowed, then I think Ultimate Spider-Man is entitled to season pages. What do I have to do to get this looked at? -- Anythingspossibleforapossible (talk) 23:33, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you can gather enough sources, I don't think that creating season pages will be a problem (though you may want to open a larger discussion elsewhere first, as I doubt many will respond here). DarkKnight2149 13:19, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:BOLD, you can also create the pages and then discuss if anyone opposes them. I'd help, but I have a to-do list and an already extensive watchlist (which includes rewriting all of the summaries on this page when I get the chance). DarkKnight2149 13:21, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the input. I imagined there'd be a large place to discuss this. Just to clarify, when you say sources, what for exactly? I imagine you mean to justify making season pages for Ultimate Spider-Man? -- Anythingspossibleforapossible (talk) 13:27, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Third party sources are required for sections regarding development, casting, behind thee scenes, notability, ETC. This article is a great example. DarkKnight2149 13:30, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see. I thought you probably meant that. -- Anythingspossibleforapossible (talk) 23:45, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
