KPop and cult of personality

[edit]

Some KPop idols such as Byun Baekhyun and others in the BTS and EXO have been worshipped by KPop fans, and some of the examples include that many fans use numbers associated to the KPop idols, such as their birthdays. I have seen some people put 0605 after their profiles, signifying that this is Baekhyun's birthday, and 06051992 is actually Baekhyun's birthdate, after their profile pages. Another thing that they do is they put some of the KPop idol's pictures as their profile image instead of their own, and plus, many seem to use Pinterest solely for the purpose of pinning in KPop, so I think that KPop is a cult of personality. — Preceding unsigned comment added by EasternAlly2000 (talkcontribs) 02:30, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This article is about political cults of personality, not pop star idolatry, which has been going on pretty much ever since there's been a mass media - and certainly didn't start with KPop. It has more to do with adolescent hormones than it does with the social, political, and psychological factors which underlie political cults of personality. It's not an appropriate subject for this article. Try Pop icon. Beyond My Ken (talk) 04:29, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Napoléon Bonaparte in France

[edit]

Napoléon Bonaparte is a important cult of personality in France so In my opinion It is should be added in topic of French cult of personalities. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.54.255.43 (talk) 18:34, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The article is about cults built around political leaders in the modern world. Historically, it was not unusual for emperors, kings, etc. to be worshipped, almost as gods. If the scope was expanded to include NB, it would be difficult to draw the line. Beyond My Ken (talk) 02:24, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Just trying to understand how you could exclude Bonaparte by arguing this article is about cults built around political leaders in the modern world, when George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Andrew Jackson are all listed for the United States. 79.154.71.119 (talk) 13:41, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Lukashenko's cult of personality

[edit]

Does anyone have sources of Alexander Lukashenko as a cult of personality, especially for human rights abuses following the protests? --49.150.110.214 (talk) 11:05, 29 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nov 2022 - Cleanup

[edit]

This page appears to have several major content issues:

  • The title "list of cults of personality" would be hard to accurately present if only as a list (what definition is being used, how widely is it applied, is it uniformly applied, is the term contested, is it pejorative, etc.)
  • The parameters of the current page is structured by country and seems limited to heads of state. This seems very arbitrary and may violate WP:OR and may constitute a WP:coatrack.
  • Even if the premise of a list is accepted, the excessive detail seems out of place for a list page on WP
  • As it stands, this page seems to be nothing more than a massive fork from Cult of personality where major examples are simply repeated, minor examples that should just be added to a category are written up, and there is the strong possibility that contested examples are included here.
  • I am tempted to send this page to a AfD discussion, but I would like to first see what other editors think.

Agreed. There also seems to be some bias in those listed and those not, which would violate WP:NPOV 79.154.71.119 (talk) 12:00, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
