title

[edit]

The title of the page List of philosophers is no longer topically correct in two ways: the page had become the list of major philosophers (and needed to be renamed to reflect its current content), sandwiched between two see also lists (of lists). And the alphabetical list of philosophers that was there disappeared. Therefore, this page was created, which covers exactly what it says it covers, including links to (new, smaller) alphabetical lists. --Polar Deluge 14:14, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Curious.

[edit]

The chronological lists are the most detailed/verified and comprehensive. It seems extremely strange to me that they are not given first, after the ABC list. --KSchutte

The multiplicity of lists is also annoying insofar as if a change is necessary it now must be made in at least twice as many places. "Thanks" for doubling the "paperwork" of wikipedia philosophers. --KSchutte

Deletion

[edit]

The majority of the lists here will be deleted under this proposal: User:Sidatio/Proto WP:LIST, specifically the part which says "there should be at least three criteria for inclusion on a stand-alone list of people". Kappa 05:27, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Category among lists

[edit]

Why put the category Analytic philosophers among the lists of philosophers of by field or category, why only the analytical ones and not any other? Also if categories be placed here will we eventually not reproduce the category philosophers by tradition, where the catagory analytical philosophers is already a part of? --85.145.121.149 (talk) 10:31, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Montreal / Canadian Philosophers

[edit]

The List of Montreal Philosophers redirects to List of Canadian philosophers, but the list there is neither. It's a random list of philosophers, psychologists, and writers, some from Montreal, some not. Suggest deletion or radical revision. Hairhorn (talk) 15:56, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Latin American philosophers

[edit]

Unfortunately, under the current procedure, coverage of Latin American philosophers is very scant. Since an addition of important people like Leopoldo Zea or Mario Bunge will get reverted, what can be done about the situation? Ladril (talk) 20:44, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

List of philosophersLists of philosophers – Rather than being a single list of philosophers, it is a list linking to other lists, thus it fits under the "Lists of X" naming convention. Harej (talk) 21:28, 29 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Blatant sexism

[edit]

Why is there a list of women philosophers, but no list for philosophers of any other gender groups? 86.12.186.46 (talk) 17:53, 31 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Could you be more specific? Are you asking why there isn't a list for men philosophers, or why there isn't a list for non-binary, genderqueer, or otherwise gendered philosophers? If the former, I think there are good historical reasons for specifying women in philosophy. If the latter, then I'd like to remind you that this is Wikipedia--if someone is missing from the list, please do us a favor and add them. Draculacan (talk) 17:59, 2 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Tried to insert list of Norwegian Philosophers, ph*cked it all up - can someone help format?

If so, thanks :) T 88.89.217.49 (talk) 03:21, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
