First Chinese gymnast to win an Olympic gold?

[edit]

Indeed Ma Yanhong was the first Chinese gymnast to win a World Championship gold, but Li Ning was the first to win an Olympic gold. Li's gold in the 1984 floor exercise was won one day prior to Ma's gold on beam. I will edit the article if there are no objections.Joel225sp (talk) 04:31, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hui Minority?

[edit]

Ma Yanhong is not a member of the Hui minority group, she is a Han. I asked her this myself yesterday and we edited the entry together yesterday. I was surprised to see it back up today. How can we get this change to stick? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.201.157.64 (talk) 19:07, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
