Kalka

[edit]

The link to Kalka (which is a city in Haryana on the border with Himachal) under the Transport section redirects to a different article "Khalkha". I have therefore removed the hyperlink for now. RMehra 05:02, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for bringing this to attention. I have fixed this and created a stub for Kalka. Lost 06:30, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Another small suggestion about Kalka. The stub has been created under category: Cities and towns in Himachal Pradesh. The town however lies in Haryana. RMehra 07:58, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oops sorry, I had just copied all categories from Manali to Kalka. Will correct. Thanks Lost 08:19, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Old Manali

[edit]

I have just added some information on Old Manali. Also removed the statement "This is believed to be the only Manu temple in India". Just found out there is one in Pithoragarh. RMehra 14:35, 26 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

History

[edit]

Added a section on History. RMehra 06:41, 31 May 2006 (UTC) shaikh — Preceding unsigned comment added by 101.63.241.37 (talk) 21:07, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Highest Motorable Road

[edit]

The earlier version of this article claimed the Leh-Manali Highway to be world's highest motorable road, but without any citations. I tried to find a source to confirm it, but wasn't successful in doing so. Therefore, I have removed the confusing statement, and have added the word considered to the statement. If anyone has sources to confirm the statement, feel free to change. --Priyanka (talk) 11:19, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Here is an interesting website that disputes the claim that Khardung La is the highest motorable pass: http://www.viewfinderpanoramas.org/highestpass.html Juicy-one (talk) 03:48, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Discrepancies

[edit]

There seem to be some considerable discrepancies between the article header and the rest of the article, for example: the geography section says the altitude is 2625 m, whereas the header says it is 1950 m (pretty big difference there, I think the header is closer to being correct but can't confirm), the header states the population is ~30,000, but the demographics sections says 6265 (again are rather large difference). I don't have the time to chase up what the correct figures are, I've made a couple of spelling/grammar corrections as I read though... Juicy-one (talk) 03:38, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Article Quality

[edit]

This article reads way too much like a tourism brochure. Juicy-one (talk) 04:11, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed! Infact, I would rather have an economy section and tourism should be a subsection under that. Any thoughts? RMehra (talk) 16:11, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'd gut the entire Tourism in Manali section out of the article altogether, except perhaps the first paragraph. Rather, I'd like to see the history section expanded. Transport section smells like travel stuff mostly. Good references would be more than welcome. Cheers, --Rayshade (talk) 21:34, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. definitely needs economy and tourism sections. Wikiang123 (talk) 07:53, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Class assesment

[edit]

Demoted to Start-class article, and toned down importances. Even after cutting out redundant parts, text irrelevant to article, reorganization and deleting most obvious tourist guide weasel wordings, the article is still nothing more than brochure, lacking citations and references for most of the facts. Even elevation needs verfication. --Rayshade (talk) 23:30, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect Co-Ordinates

[edit]

The coordinates earlier given in the text were wrong, I edited it and changed them for accuracy. Wikiang123 (talk) 07:51, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
