Talk:Manual of the Planes

Who keeps putting that Manual of the Planes will be released in 2008? 2008 already passed.

[edit]

I edited the 4th Edition section according to the information within the Manual of the Planes 4th Edition. All of that information is found in the "World Axis Cosmology" section on page 12 of the manual. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.233.217.131 (talk) 06:47, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

All the planes

[edit]

If someone has a handy reference, please add the names of the other planes and—perhaps—the alignments they're related to. Frecklefoot | Talk 19:12, Jun 16, 2005 (UTC)

There isn't a need for that when one can just link Inner Plane and Outer Plane or even Plane_(Dungeons_&_Dragons).

AD&D vs 3.0/3.5

[edit]

In Second Edition, the Etheral Plane was the connecting plane between the Inner and the Prime Material Planes. In 3.0/3.5, the Astral connects the Prime to both the Inner and Outer, with the Etheral Plane just mirroring the Prime. Should a note of this be added to the entry to clarify the difference? As of now, the entry on the Etheral only reflects the 3.0/3.5 viewpoint. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.64.10.249 (talk) 15:25, 5 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Merge raises its ugly head again, but this time with no explanation

[edit]

Someone added a merge tag onto part of this article proposing that it was merged with Plane (Dungeons & Dragons), but did not explain why on the talk page. This is the second proposed merger for the Plane article. There was no clear agreement to merge the first time and as the second merger has no explanation from the proposer, I'm going to yank it. I thought it was obvious. This article is suppose to be about the books titled Manual of the Planes, not about D&D cosmology in general, D&D cosmology has its' own article at Plane (Dungeons & Dragons). I don't see why we should have redundant in-depth information here, the Player's Handbook article doesn't have any in-depth information on D&D's class system, magic system or other game mechanics, they're covered elsewhere, in the character class (Dungeons & Dragons), magic of Dungeons & Dragons and Dungeons & Dragons gameplay articles respectively. Anyway, I'm re-adding the tags and adding a discussion link here. -- Gordon Ecker (talk) 07:07, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Support merger for the reasons outlined by Gordon Ecker. -Drilnoth (talk) 13:01, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It should be sufficient if the 3E section outlines its contents in a manner similar to how the 1E section does; i.e., if most of the content is removed and merged (where appropriate) into the Plane article. BOZ (talk) 16:50, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cacodemon

[edit]

should there be a mention of the fact the cacodemon from doom is inspired by the cover? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.26.150.179 (talk) 22:23, 13 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, if you can find a source for it! 24.148.0.83 (talk) 08:43, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Actually quite good source is the cover itself, in which the creatures face strongly resembles the Cacodemon. Also, it is mentioned in http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/Cacodemon#Notes though that article does not tell where it got the information. 82.141.74.250 (talk) 07:26, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly, which is why we need a better source. 108.69.80.49 (talk) 11:57, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In the Reference section, there is an additional link - a cite book template. I have visited the url in the link, and though it does go to the Wizards of the Coast website, the site returns "Article or Content Not Found." I have not been able to find the correct url as the Wizards domain appears to be unresponsive today (taking forever to load nothing). If someone is able to fix the url reference, could you also fix the same reference in the Literature section of the Mirror page (7 bullets down the list)? Thank you for your assistance.
