Sub Sections

[edit]

Would it be beneficial to do a sub section dedicated to a legal issue that Mara Brock Akil faced with her hit show "The Game"? Violet Rose (talk) 02:52, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Could this page benefit from any additional content? What are some suggestions for subheadings? I have found more reliable sources from the ones that are placed as references in the article through a website that reverts and tracks the original publication. Review

[edit]

I think this article has great potential to document her work and accomplishments, especially since her work is recent. Although this is a page for her i think the page would be more informative if it gave more information on her work produced. She has done a lot as a women and black woman within media and entertainment. She would be a great women to document and talk more about changing and dramatizing the stereotypes and realness of the black woman. I agree. I think it would be beneficial to discuss her work as its own sub section, I have included this method in an outline in my sandbox page. I find it hard to research work produced on someone who is still living. Also, you bring up a great point about her work being recent. How does one go about discussing work that is recent.

Also I was thinking about adding an award section, Would this be beneficial? 12.35.54.5 (talk) 21:19, 20 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review by Yaa Harpo

[edit]

Suggestions: Consider adding more information about her college experience as a black female student at a PWI Consider adding more details about her life as a black Muslim woman Consider seeking and adding insight into any possible controversies or suits she may have encountered throughout her career Consider compiling more sources that could be about black screenwriters and/or producers generally and could include her Consider adding a section about her professional and personal influences, such as mentors she may have in the industry and themes and messages she may strive to convey through her work Maintain biographical and encyclopedic tone with any and all added contributions — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yaa Harpo (talkcontribs) 06:35, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I agree in my Snadbox I defintely added a section about personal and career influences, I also added lawsuits she encountered. I do agree that adding content about her expereince as a black female at a PWI would beneficial to the article. Violet Rose (talk) 13:32, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review by Kris Wander

[edit]

I agree with the previous peer editors. I think that there should be a separate section titled "legal issues" or "controversy" regarding her legal issues. I think you should also add details of her stepping down as showrunner for Being Mary Jane. Also it might be beneficial to add details of her upcoming projects in the works in another subsection. Early life

[edit]

I've found one of the early sources where she outlines her religious upbringing in her family through a link in another article. It would be helpful if more details are found about her early life: religion, her father's identity, her parents' divorce, siblings and relatives, her husband Salim's early life and upbringing, etc. DA1 (talk) 14:12, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know why her mother's name was listed here as 'Joan Deter' for so many years when every single interview ([1][2]) and documentary names her as 'Joan Fullmore' and never Deter. Her brother's obituary names her full name and that of the father and siblings. Likewise, I'm removing Mara's alleged birth name until we get a source from her, her family or school that lists it out. DA1 (talk) 10:28, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There's a couple of question marks about where she lived with her mother. Most articles and interviews only note she lived in "Kansas City" but this Chicago Sun-Times article additionally mentioned Canton, Missouri. So, was there a number of places they lived and what was the time period for each?
Another thing that needs to be clarified, because there's contradicting sources, is whether Mara and Salim met in 1996 or 1997. When was their concert date and their encounter at the furniture shop relative to that first encounter at the coffee shop? DA1 (talk) 03:11, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
