Fair use rationale for Image:Mavis1973.jpg

[edit]

Image:Mavis1973.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Congrats

[edit]

Both for putting together a brilliant article, and penning the single most disturbing sentence I've ever read on Wikipedia.

His celebrity ex-wife Amanda Holden revealed Dennis often used his impressions of Mavis to seduce her.

Wow.(!)

Anyhow, do either of you have access to The Women of Coronation Street by Daran Little? I found it very helpful for Betty Turpin, and I can pull it out of the library next week and see what there is on Mavis, if it hasn't already been consulted :) I've also got the 50 Years, 50 Moments documentary, which has just a small feature on the Mavis-Derek non-wedding, but a couple of insightful quotes from Barbara Knox. I don't have that book, So it would be a big help. And the documentary. Thanks too. I loved the Amanda info. Lol =DRain the 1 BAM 22:26, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That would be great Frickative. I dont have any corrie books, but that one looks worth having. I might purchase it from amazon for 1p at some stage! I really enjoy working on the classic corrie character pages. Some of these old corrie characters were legends. So many greats' pages have very little in them. I think I will try to focus on them a bit more from now on, and it's been so nice to be able to do it collaboratively too.GunGagdinMoan 00:11, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Here's the content from the 50 Years documentary - afraid it doesn't look like much transcribed, but I hope it'll be at least a little useful! I'm not sure when the local library is open this week because of all the Bank Holidays, but I'll try and pop down tomorrow or Wednesday and scan in anything on Mavis.
Knox: "She was quite a tough little character. You know, a lot of girls would have gone through with it, and she stuck to her guns and said 'No, no this isn't right.' Again, dithering and weepy, but she was tough enough to do it. That scene [where Rita supports her decision to jilt Derek] is reflective of the two of them. That was the essence of the friendship, they stuck up for each other and [were] great friends, all the way through." Frickative 21:42, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Mark Robinson (executive producer); Kerry Allison (producer, director); Vicky Thomas (producer, director); Victoria Wood (narrator); Barbara Knox (interviewee) (7 December 2010). Coronation Street: 50 Years, 50 Moments (Television production). ITV. Event occurs at 12:33-14:03. Retrieved 25 April 2011.
Thanks Frick.  DoneGunGagdinMoan 20:06, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Anyone have access to this interview? Might be useful.[1] couple of other vids [2] [3] GunGagdinMoan 13:51, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

New material added on birthday

[edit]

Some new material has been added to the article about conflicting birth dates. I feel that the material is not appropriate in the storyline section. Plus the source used is linked to a Corrie wiki, which is unfortunately not considered a reliable source and if episode info is to be sourced, then a cite episode ref template will be needed. I was under the impression that Derek died on Mavis's birthday on 7th April? But the article is saying the 9th and that is sourced to a book, and the 12th has been sourced to the programm; both are indicating different years. Her dob has obviously been retconned to suit storylines over the years. Can we not solve this conflicting infomation by adding circa 1937 to the infobox? Notes discussing the conflicting information can be added to the refernces section? I dont think it is notable enough to be included in the main body of the text. GunGagdinMoan 21:15, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It certainly isn't appropriate for the storyline section, so I've moved it to a footnote. But saying c. 1937 wouldn't be correct; the only discussion is over 1937 or 1938, but circa would also allow 1936 for instance. Malleus Fatuorum 21:55, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for fixing it to a footnote (I saw it mucked up the storyline section but didn't have time to sort it out then). As for the Corrie Wiki being a source, the info comes from the episode story lines as they appeared in that week's TV Times. Plutonium27 (talk) 12:09, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
