  • Support Michael HayvoronskyMykhailo Haivoronsky per nomination and per transliteration form indicated in the above-mentioned Encyclopedia of Ukraine.    Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 07:45, 16 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. In this 14:08, 26 July 2008 edit, User:Bandurist claims that Hayvoronsky was known as Michael in English circles. Per WP:COMMONNAME, Wikipedia generally prefers the name that is most commonly used as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable English-language sources. WP:UKRAINIANNAMES deals with transliteration of Ukrainian, or Romanization of Ukrainian. Per WP:TRANSLITERATE, The choice between anglicized and local spellings should follow English-language usage, e.g. the non-anglicized titles Besançon, Søren Kierkegaard, and Göttingen are used because they predominate in English language reliable sources. In other words, we only fall back on transliteration of Ukrainian sources when adequate English-language sources are not available. As the subject resided in New York City from 1923–1949, and the New York Times published an obituary, I think we should be able to determine his common name, as published in English-language sources, e.g. Souvenir program of the Ukrainian National Chorus : in the name of Michael O. Hayvoronsky : Pittsburgh, Penna, 1940.wbm1058 (talk) 13:19, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. As per WP:COMMONNAME, which the present title satisfies per the facts presented by wbm1058 above. That article-titling policy does not support the proposed name.  Paine Ellsworth  put'r there  14:15, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
