Two Michael Kellys[edit]

The Michael Kelly this article refers to is not the Michael Kelly who appeared in the 1984 TV documentary "On The Eighth Day". They are two different people.

This article refers to the solid state physicist Michael Kelly formerly of the University of Surrey and now a professor at the University of Cambridge. The TV documentary features a Michael Kelly who was a climate researcher of the University of East Anglia.

Neither Kelly's biography at the University of Cambridge nor Kelly's biography at the Royal Society make any mention of any time spent at the University of East Anglia.

Consequently, the two paragraphs (reproduced below) relating to an appearance in the 1984 television documentary should be removed.

In 1984, Kelly appeared in a TV documentary concerning the climatic effects of widespread nuclear war called "On The Eighth Day". Kelly postulated that the planet could experience a day to day temperature change of between no change at all and a 40 degree C temperature drop, depending on wind frequency and direction.

In the same documentary, Kelly is credited (1984) as working in the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia.
