Page move

[edit]

I would like to suggest that this page be moved. "Residenz, Munich" is clearly incorrect as it looks like an address. In German it is called the "die münchener Residenz", where the "Munich" part is an adjective, meaning it belongs to Munich. I would rather see this under either "Munich Residenz" or "The Munich Residenz". Comments anyone? —Preceding unsigned comment added by TinyMark (talkcontribs) 16:24, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Gryffindor 22:33, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Residenz is not incorrect, merely knowledgable. There are many residences in Munich. When Residenz, Hof, château, Slott are "translated" into their closest, but sometimes misleading English cognates, the picture is unintentionally blurred.--Wetman (talk) 16:01, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Now: That palace has no (other) proper name, such as those of Nymphenburg or Schleissheim. As opposed to them "die Residenz" ("the Residence") is more than just a merely functional description but really it's only proper name. Thus I agree with Gryffindor.

The Residenz, Munich is the merely the most familiar. The palace of the Prince Archbishops of Salzburg is the Residenz, Salzburg, or would be if we had an article on it. The Residenz, Würzburg is known (perhaps not not by Randy in Boise) for its frescoes, the Residenz, Eichstätt, for its grand staircase hall...--Wetman (talk) 16:03, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
