Where uses it?[edit]

I can find England, Scotland and Wales still using it as a May-May year beginning with the annual council meeting.

Ireland comes up blank after 1922, although the concept in Dublin exists of the mayor being appointed in June at the annual meeting. [1] The term doesn't appear current there.

There is some evidence in Scotland it historically started in October. [2]

Looks like it exists in the USA: Starting first Monday of January or 1 May. MRSC (talk) 10:02, 15 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Events in the year[edit]

Events that happen during each municipal year:

  • Local elections (if any)
  • Annual meeting (statutory requirement)
  • Election of chairman/vice chairman or mayor/deputy mayor (statutory requirement)
  • Meetings as required
