Why is user Bdebbarma removing large sections of this article? The mastermind of NLFT is Kamini Debbarma. Is there any relation or is Bdebbarma a NLFT sympathizer??

I think that quite an ignorant statement, since the majority of the tribal population of Tripura has Debbarma as their family name. --Soman 07:31, 15 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
About the Debbarma name issue soman is right, 50% of tripuri community has this family name. As far deleting the contents of NLFT, wikipedia clearly states that It strives to provide unbiased and unprovocative views on everything.
As a resident of Tripura state, who knows all thats happening and all the rumors about NLFT. Thus I see that only valid reports about its criminal and militant activities should be pasted on wikipedia, and not distorted views spread by some websites. Bdebbarma

Nothing is written about the fact that the native Tripurians have become a minority in their own state.

I hardly have any sympathy for NLFT, but its wrong to describe conflict in Tripura primarily as a religious one, but rather a political and ethnic one. NLFT has obviously links to the Christian community in Tripura (in a way the other main rebel group, ATTF, does not), but any claims of actual support from Church organisations to it needs to be backed up by credible source. In my view the religious aspect of NLFT should not be overvalued. They perceive Bengali culture as a threat to theirs and treat any Bengali or tribal in favour of cooperation with Bengalis as an enemy, irrespective of religious belief. --Soman 16:50, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

[edit]

Does bakasuprman really think that 'christianaggression.org' can function as a reliable source? At least, try using material as satp.org, rather than unsources articles from fringe websites. Moreover, while I'm in favour of presenting a survey on NLFT acts and atrocities, its bizarre that the Durga Puja incident is put ahead of the statistic. It gives a false impression that the other incidents would be linked to that. --Soman 20:08, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I never heard of satp before, and when i google searched "NLFT+terrorist" (not in quotes) the aggression site was 2nd or 3rd after wiki link. I'm going on wikibreak but when I come back i'll look into that site.Bakaman Bakatalk 20:24, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think http://www.organiser.org should be used as a neutral source either. This source [1] used in the article starts with "America is funding Christian militants in India, like they had done to the Talibans." Akubhai 19:58, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article is clearly extremely anti-NLFT. I have no sympathies for them, but the allegations that they indulge in forced pornography-making sounds like complete madness, and needs to backed up by reliable sources. ALso, that one pastor is caught passing bomb-making materials to the NLFT does in now way prove that the church itself is backing the militants. It's complete rubbish until other sources can prove this. The SATP site is acceptable as a source, and is used by universities and research institutes, but still needs to be viewed sceptically. I'm currently working on a group profile for the NLFT for a non-profit organisation, and I will update this section as soon as I am done. (3 July 2007, Raffeman)

Sites like christianaggression.org cannot serve as sources in any page on Wikipedia, due to their definitively stated biases. As for the pornography issue, the BBC reported on the matter a while back: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/4190570.stm
Raffeman, is the BBC a reliable source? -Open caverns 16:57, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The BBC is widely recognized as a reputable source.   — C M B J   22:42, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
