Queen Elizabeth II HospitalNew QEII Hospital – The official name of the current hospital is "New QEII Hospital" ([1] [2]). The current article title, strictly speaking, only refers to the hospital that was on approximately (but not exactly) the same site from 1963 to 2015. • Support as proposer. Tevildo (talk)
  • Comment. If the original hospital (the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital) and its successor(?) (the New QEII Hospital) are both covered by this one article, why is one name preferable to another? The original was obviously never called the New QEII Hospital. Wouldn't the proposed title, strictly speaking, refer only to the new hospital? Station1 (talk) 01:36, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • Yes, in an ideal world where we comprehensively covered every current and previous hospital in the UK in detail, we'd have two separate articles, one about the old hospital and one about the new one. However, for the moment, we only give basic information, and anyone reading the article is more likely to be interested in the current hospital. Tevildo (talk) 09:23, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support I understand the concern of Station1 above, but this is really an article about the new hospital that has two sentences about the old one.--Yaksar (let's chat) 02:20, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support There is precedent for using the current name of the hospital and also discussing former-names of the hospital. The former name would be entered into the Infobox hospital, former-names parameter. The opened date would be the original hospital open date, so long as it is the same organization for the hospital.
