The MININEC information should move to it's own page.

A citation is needed to support claim of known MININEC limitations. N6RNO (talk) 01:46, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Public domain resources

[edit]

There are several resources currently listed here that are not public domain (i.e., unencumbered by any proprietary rights); in fact, most are not. I recommend that this section be retitled to reflect the content of this section. An accurate title might be "Cost-free resources." Comments? Lovibond (talk) 15:49, 22 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed Format is pointless

[edit]

That 1960s era FORTRAN did not allow free format or that most computation was done with keypunch machines and 1890s era Hollerith cards is a pointless distraction. It's an issue with the FORTRAN of the era and not an intersting issue with respect to NEC-2.

Earlier edits also made editorial comments that were not needed. It misquoted the source (which said MS DOS in the mid 1980s) and misrepresented the issue of MS DOS address space. The given source had item (2) about extended addressing. Glrx (talk) 01:17, 1 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The issue of fixed format has clear effects in the NEC file - for instance, the limitation to 80-characters means some commands have to be implemented as two cards. A modern format would not have to do this, as is evidenced in formats like .EZ. Maury Markowitz (talk) 16:05, 5 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
