In this version of The Nutcracker, Drosselmeyer has a bigger role, more fleshed-out characterization, & is even more socially awkward & affectionate, & either is, or is perceived by Clara/Marie to be romantically interested in her, despite their age differences. In her dream, Drosselmeyer is the Pasha & he & the Nutcracker Prince take an instant disliking to eachother & start fighting over Clara/Marie.
