Latin

[edit]

As far as I know, there is no official translation of the text into any vernacular and the rite is always said in Latin. I noticed that this has been removed from a recent revision. Since I have no source to confirm this, I's like to gather some opinions (and references) before restoring it. --Cshobar 04:48, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Decree printed in the front of the Rite says: The Latin edition comes out immediately and can be used by those, competent under the law. Episcopal conferences shall see to it that vernacular editions duly prepared and in accord with the law shall be submitted to the Apostolic See.

Rubric 37 says: Conferences of Bishops:

a) Are to prepare complete versions faithful to the original authentic text;

b) May judge whether are the signs and gestures of the rite itself are necessary and useful with due attention to the culture and the spirit of the people, they may be adapted with the agreement of the Holy See.

... I do not know whether a vernacular translation has been made and approved into any language yet. Revd Dr Gareth Leyshon - User Gleyshon (talk) 01:42, 25 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
