Missing Member

[edit]

Margaret Thatcher is not included in this list although she did receive the Merit of Order on Dec 7, 1990 according to this link — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.222.125.160 (talk) 17:37, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

She's dead. This list is of living members. DrKay (talk) 17:59, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

order of vacancies

[edit]

An argument could be made for reversing the order of the vacancies at the bottom of the list. Klug's death in 2018 opened slot 24; the deaths in 2019 of Atiyah and Howard opened slots 23 and 22; May's death in 2020 opened slot 21; Edinburgh's death in 2021 opened slot 20. —Tamfang (talk) 19:28, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Monarch of the Commonwealth realms?

[edit]

I might have to open an RFC concerning such medals. As there's no such title or position called "Monarch of the Commonwealth realms". GoodDay (talk) 06:30, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is just the latest in a long list of examples of people finding issue that the multiple countries she's the monarch of aren't adequately represented in a brief line. --Killuminator (talk) 11:23, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Last six appointments

[edit]

As of 7th September 2022 there were nineteen living members of the order, including Prince Charles, leaving five slots vacant. On 8th September Queen Elizabeth died and thus Charles ascended to the throne, his honours merging with the crown. On 11th November six appointments were announced by King Charles, the choices having been made in September by Queen Elizabeth. I have not seen any comment on the obvious arithmetic problem here - Her Majesty made six new appointments when there was only space for five. Does this mean she knew she would be dead before the end of the year? Robin S. Taylor (talk) 21:31, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
