Wild Seed

[edit]

Did Octavia Butler's Wild Seed get some kind of special Tiptree award? It's mentioned as winning the award on her page, but I see that the award was launched more than a decade after Wild Seed was published. See also Patternist series. Nareek 04:50, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sort of. It made the short list for the Retrospective Tiptree Award, which honored works written before the award was created. hhw, 07 March 2006

Article move

[edit]

Should this be moved to Otherwise Award now, or should we wait till the renaming has been finalized? AJD (talk) 20:51, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It has been finalized. I have moved the article. --Orange Mike | Talk 22:21, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Cited source says “For the next two weeks, we’re going to hold off on making any permanent changes”; that’s why I was hesitant. I’m fine with moving it now though. AJD (talk) 22:39, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Tiptree Motherboard ? ? ?

[edit]

It's mentioned several times, but what is the Tiptree Motherboard? 2600:8800:784:8F00:C23F:D5FF:FEC4:D51D (talk) 12:09, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The "Motherboard" is the board of directors; nowadays we call them the "Otherwise Motherboard." --Orange Mike | Talk 16:30, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Source spacing?

[edit]

Hello Dicklyon, you recently reverted an edit I made. In your explanation of the revert, you asked that I not squeeze out source spacing. Could you clarify why this type of spacing is necessary? It is my understanding that it makes no practical difference either way. Also, in reverting my edit, you undid other work that I had done on the article, and you didn't fix that. Please try to be careful about undoing edits wholesale rather than changing specific things you object to. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 03:02, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The spacing is not necessary; it is optional. Squeezing it out is obnoxious. Dicklyon (talk) 05:28, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean by "squeezing it out"? Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 06:00, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Squeezing out (removing) optional spacing compresses the source code, making it less readable by normal humans. Dicklyon (talk) 02:09, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
