PML-F

Why does it state that the PML-F is "the only other known political party besides these two with the PML name"? June, 2008 elections

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) on June 27, 2008, won 3 and 2 five by-election seats, respectively, to the national parliament. Polls were postponed for the 6th seat in Lahore due to Nawaz Sharif's eligibility contest. A court ruled he was ineligible due to the old conviction, amid the government appeal in the Supreme Court, which will hear the case on June 30, thus postponing the vote in the constituency.news.bbc.co.uk, Ruling parties win Pakistan polls The 2 parties also won 19 of 23 provincial assembly seats where by-elections were held. The results will not affect the February 18 general election results in which Benazir Bhutto's PPP won 123 seats in the 342-seat National Assembly and Sharif's party came second with 91, while Pervez Musharraf's party came a poor third with 54 seats. Link is original research, from a partisan source. reliable sources must be cited. These sources should be directly related to the topic of the article. They should also directly support the information as it is presented. The mentioned link to the claim links back to an opinion piece... analysis and opinion pieces, whether written by the editors of the publication (editorials) or outside authors (op-eds) are reliable primary sources for statements attributed to that editor or author, but are rarely reliable for statements of fact. I am new to wiki maybe you can help me, but to my understanding, opinion pieces are generally not accepted on Wikipedia. It linked back to a blog piece. I also checked PMLN's manifesto and they do not describe themselves as "Islamic" if anything PMLN's manifesto is secular, has anyone actually read it? or do they just assume since the party calls itself "Muslim" therefore it is "Islamic"? there is a huge difference. @SheriffIsInTown, the history section includes bias wording such as “The Pakistan Muslim League (N) struck its remarkable, biggest, and most notable achievement in the 1997 parliamentary elections”. More importantly, the 1990 and 1996 elections were dubbed by Dawn and opposition parties as highly rigged and fraudulent in favor of PML-N see here. The section included bias and lacks rigging claims entirely, despite the elections being alleged for rigging. Titan2456 (talk) 19:49, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
