This passage

[edit]

Paladin Press is known for publishing the book Hit Man: A Technical Manual for Independent Contractors, which was written under the psuedonym "Rex Feral". [1] The book is written to be a how-to manual on contract killers, though it was written by a divorced mother of two who simply fabricated the material it contains from mystery novels and movies about the topic. [2] The book goes on at length about studying "the mark," learning that "mark's" movements and routine, and silently moving in for the profitable kill (despite its status as non-fiction). [3]

Although cited correctly I belive that there is some controversy surrounding the claim that Hit Man was authored by a "divorced mother of two who simply fabricated the material it contains from mystery novels and movies about the topic"

I agree, and if it was indeed a "divorced mother of two" then who is she? Surely if we know that she has two children and is divorced, then there must be a name? (Demigod Ron 08:04, 9 November 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Reliable source?

[edit]

Seeing as how Paladin Press took as fictional novel and sold it as a non-fiction "how-to" book while misrepresenting the credentials of the author, can this publisher be considered to have a reputation for reliability? Felsic2 (talk) 20:53, 17 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I just came across a Wikipedia article that says they published two "non-fiction" books by a novelist using the name of his main character as a pseudonym. Death_Merchant#Camellion_as_author. This adds to my concern that this may not be a reputable publisher. Felsic2 (talk) 17:17, 11 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Sometimes people do things for fun when their readers have senses of humor. It was completely tongue-in cheek or an inside joke, if you will. Like when Wikipedia does an April Fool's Day main page, for example.--Mike - Μολὼν λαβέ 18:43, 11 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
A publisher is very broad and Paladin have been around for many years. It is too simple to say "this publisher is always right" or "this publisher is always wrong". I am sure some of their books are inaccurate, but that does not mean they all are.
Why should a fiction author not write non fiction too? Len Deighton was a spy novelist and he also wrote good historical books on air warfare. 89.46.102.14 (talk) 11:16, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The issue is that they hide the true identity of the authors. Felsic2 (talk) 00:13, 17 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
