The result of the debate was PAGE MOVED yesterday, by User:Navou. Seems uncontroversial. -GTBacchus(talk) 06:41, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Palatinate of the RhinePalatinate (region). This article has been at both "Rhenish Palatinate" and "Palatinate of the Rhine," neither of which are the primary designation for the contemporary territory, simply Palatinate (cf. de:Pfalz (Region), Rhineland-Palatinate, Palatinate German). Furthermore, the current title is ambiguous as "Palatinate of the Rhine" can also refer to Electoral Palatinate (cf. fr:Palatinat du Rhin; nl:Rijnpalts) –  AjaxSmack  01:45, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Example of the ambiguity of the current title can be seen in the map on the article page (Image:PalatinateoftheRhine.jpg) is of Electoral Palatinate and not the current region of Palatinate, the subject of this article. —  AjaxSmack  19:12, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure if this image could be useful in this article or not, but it is free and seems to be of the subject of the article. ~ BigrTex 21:58, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Borders

[edit]

The borders on the maps are wrong. You can't take modern Districts' artificial borders as borders for the traditional region of Palatinate. So for example some villages in the Kreuznach district, as Becherbach, clearly belong to northern Palatinate. In the time when Bavaria was Palatinian (OK, some people think it was the other way around) for a long time the river Glan was a border between Palatinate and Prussia. Becherbach is almost ten kilometres south of the Glan. And even Meisenheim, a town on the other side of the Glan, was Palatinian in earlier times and can therefore be called palatinian, too: Till 1477 Meisenheim was the recidence town of the duchy of Pfalz-Zweibrücken. And if you take the dialect borders, you can find Palatinian dialect north of the Glan, too.

Count palatine--plural

[edit]

The article twice referred to "Count palatines." I believe the plural should be "Counts palatine." (The article on Count palatine seems to agree with that view.) So I changed both instances. I hope nobody objects. 140.147.236.195 (talk) 19:51, 9 January 2012 (UTC)Stephen Kosciesza[reply]

This page is confusing

[edit]

After reading this page, I still feel like I have little idea where or what the Palatinate is, or what cities it encompasses. It would be nice to see a clear picture of the borders on a map of Germany that shows the cities of modern Germany, rather than a map that is a formless blob with no features shown. Also saying that it encompasses the former land of whatever to the north, and some little known mountain range to the south, etc. doesn't really help most readers know where this place is. A clear picture of the region on a modern map with some landmarks and cities shown would be much clearer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.215.80.96 (talk) 02:37, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Climate

[edit]

Hey, I'm not sure what the average annual temperature is, but I'm pretty sure it's not 10 million degrees. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:387:1:817:0:0:0:5A (talk) 03:56, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
