In re: The NPOV (neutral point of view) is sacrificed by using verbiage such as "full service" and "leading sellers." In the discussion of corporate history, discussion of managers and management styles may be softly subjective to the extent that it occurs. Any discussion should focus on metrics and/or identify commentators as either critical or advocative. It may also be misleading to potential small retail investors who may rely upon this Wiki page for "neutral" research on the publicly traded stock. It may be a comparatively minor deviation from neutrality, but it is biased and needs to be cleansed.

Referenced terms of "full service" and "leading sellers" have been removed and updated. The rest of the article appears to conform with factual info and references.

Title Question

[edit]

When was Manny, Moe & Jack ever part of the company's official name? WAVY 10 Fan (talk) 14:20, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re the song, "Manny, Moe, and Jack": A previous song, with the same title, was written by Moe Jaffe, who was a friend of Moe Strauss' brother Adolph. However, this song was basically a commercial for the Pep Boys; it was heard frequently on Philadelphia radio in the 1940's. Article title

[edit]

Jason.cinema just moved this article from Pep Boys to Pep Boys Auto, stating that "the official company name, as shown on its website, is now Pep Boys Auto."

1. This is incorrect. As was prominently stated in the article before Jason's revisions, the company uses the brand "Pep Boys Auto" in its marketing, but its official name remains "The Pep Boys – Manny, Moe & Jack" (as indicated in its most recent press release, issued earlier this week).

2. We don't use that as the article's title because the corporate name isn't our primary consideration; the common name is. "Pep Boys" is the overwhelmingly predominant name for this subject, both among the general public and within the company itself. (The website, which is located at pepboys.com, contains far more references to "Pep Boys" than to "Pep Boys Auto" or "The Pep Boys – Manny, Moe & Jack.") —David Levy 16:27, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

RE: The Pep Boys / Auto Plus "separation"

[edit]

Here in the Metro Phoenix (AZ) area, it seems that over the past year plus that about a quarter to a third of the Pep Boys locations no longer sell automotive parts and only do repairs. And those repair-only places don't seem to have a big customer base (or be in demand) compared to when Pep Boys did both sales & repair. 184.103.85.189 (talk) 15:28, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
