Wondering how to edit this U.S. City Entry?

A news story about someone from this town does not make it notable enough to earn mention on the town's article. Articles are about the town, not the stupid people who come from themm or even the famous people who come from them. I know of no articles on towns which dedicate entire sections to someone who has 15 minutes of fame or 15 minutes of infamy. If you want to create an article on this minor controversy, please create a seperate article to discuss the subject matter. This matter is wholly irrelevant to an encyclopedic entry on a town.

And no, taste has absolutely nothing to do with this edit. This is an encyclopedia, not an emotional piece. The359 (Talk) 19:05, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • The person in question entered the news as a result of being a publicly elected official in the town. I therefore maintain that it IS relevant to the town and does deserve to be in this article. If he had made public comments while a private citizen, tben I would agree with you. But he was a member of the school board and his comments attracted attention to the town from across the entire world. So yes, the article does need to address this. --Stenun (talk) 19:37, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Again, does every town have a section on every famous or infamous elected official? No, because these people have their own independent articles. Someone with 15 minutes of fame does not deserve an entire section dedicated to a town.
I would also argue that the school district covers the entire Independence County, Arkansas, and does not relate specifically to this town, nor was he elected solely by this town. Please see Midlands School District, Arkansas (also up for deletion after being created solely by this controversy) for more information on this. So, again, no, this is not related to this specific town or the article on the town, it is related to a person and a school board. The359 (Talk) 19:49, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
