Question

According to the neutral standing of wikipedia, shouldn't it be included that the Olympics also are used to promote democracy (and human rights) around the world, especially now for Beijing 2008? Spackis 15:44, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

About the 1936 olympics, Hitler almost certainly did not expect "Aryans" to win everything. This is a popular myth. In fact, Hitler regarded e.g. negroes as more "primitive", thus having an "advantage" in certain sports. He therefore wanted them banned from the Olympics. "Solely in retaliation of the 1980 boycott, the USSR, East Germany, Cuba and 14 other countries boycotted the Los Angeles 1984 Summer Olympics." I don't think this statement is true, nor do you provide any evidence to support it. Blakdogg (talk) 19:27, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
