Question
[edit]Is the "animal, vegetable, or mineral" thing really in the show? If it is, then it would be a reference to the Major-General's Song. --M1ss1ontomars2k4 (T | C | @) 02:03, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
Alternate Versions
[edit]Have just watched this episode through the on-demand service (Virgin Media) for the first time in about ten years, I don't know if these are the same versions as the DVD release as I don't have them. There is an alternate ending with the epilogue as mentioned in the article and in the scene with Rimmer's mum, her voice is dubbed. When the episode originally aired, her voice was more shrill and she spoke with a stronger Southern-English accent. I'm 100% sure of this but can't work out why they did it, funny the things you remember. Danny Darko 01:48, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
- I second that - there are two versions. I watched BBC Prime's version whilst on holiday recently - it had an epilogue saying that the second polymorph was less intelligent and crawled into Lister's sock drawer, "where it died of old age" some years later. However the episode I just watched on an on-demand service showed the ending described in the article.
- Further to this, the title sequences for the whole of series three, up until this episode at least, is different. On the sock-drawer version, we see a figure painting the ship and then a star-bug flying past, then through a comet with clips from Red Dwarf shows. In the other version, we just see the ship (no painter), and then the clips. Perhaps they were made for differences can be attributed to American TV vs. the advert-less BBC--82.153.105.157 (talk) 18:33, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- That's the remastered episode you're referring to. See Red Dwarf remastered. --Nreive (talk) 09:06, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Requested move
[edit]- The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: not moved. It's been over a week since the redirect became a disambiguation and no-one's complained so that looks like the new consensus for the moment. DrKiernan (talk) 15:32, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
Polymorph (Red Dwarf episode) → Polymorph (Red Dwarf) – Standard naming convention for TV episodes is not to have the word episode in the disambig (unless, of course, there is need to - IE other articles within the same universe). A pesky redirect that has been edited several times blocks this currently. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 10:20, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose the Polymorph character appeared in several Red Dwarf episodes, and would arguably be a better use of term "Polymorph (Red Dwarf)", so should redirect to List of Red Dwarf characters -- 65.92.181.190 (talk) 06:46, 7 November 2012 (UTC)
- Comment I've boldly disambiguated it. (the edit history shows multiple retargetting) -- 65.92.181.190 (talk) 06:50, 7 November 2012 (UTC)
- In my opinion, the dab page is better to be merged to Polymorph per WP:INCOMPDAB because "Polymorph (Red Dwarf)" is an unlikely search term. --Kusunose 09:26, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

- Note content of the old page is now at GELF#Emotional vampires. I changed the page to a redirect to the section and tagged with {{R from merge}} to preserve the edit history, and then moved to a new title Polymorph (Red Dwarf character) so that current discussion does not affect the page. --Kusunose 09:08, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

Removed Part
[edit]I removed a section from cultural references because it wasn't correct.
"Although not explicitly stated, this episode appears to contain a reference to cannabis. Near the end, Lister excuses Kryten's behavior saying "We were all a bit whacked out there". Rimmer, still in the garb of his CND counterpart, appears to smell the pipe he'd been seen with since he lost his anger, and says "You can say that again". However, the laugh track does not register that a joke or reference had been made."
I just watched the episode, and he just holds the pipe up and inspects it. its about a foot away from his face. It was more just emphasizing the fact. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.176.1.174 (talk) 15:20, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
