article (re)purposed
[edit]This page was a non-standard disambiguation page (involving candy and a school production along with a word definition). It's been repurposed to be about the Revels, the twice yearly production in various cities, stemming from John Langstaff's project. Much more information is needed here. Specifically, an image or two ('deer' costume, Morris dancers, an ensemble sing in costume, perhaps some kids' participating?, ...) are badly needed.
As is an audio clip or two. I suggest an extract (for Christmas Revels) from The Lord of the Dance, if permission can be gained, of course. Can someone ask Revels, Inc if they are the rights holders? ww 21:02, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
Improvements needed
[edit]I have overhauled the article and reorganized it to better follow Wikipedia standards. Following are some suggestions for expansion:
- The history of Revels needs more information about its early years, and transition from the founders to whoever is running it now
- The traditional sequential structure of a Revels performance, possibly with pointers to a typical Revels program booklet
- Listing of past Revels cultural and time period themes
- Information about tax-exempt or charitable status, mix of paid and unpaid personnel, organizational structure
- Description of annual development of a show, from conception, writing, recruitment, set design, construction, costuming, rehearsals, promotion, to public performances.
- Description of Revels performances beyond the Christmas season
More references are needed, both to Revels sources and third party commentary and reviews. Reify-tech (talk) 19:43, 20 December 2019 (UTC)
