Merge with Carrara Stadium?

[edit]

I disagree with merging with Carrara Stadium. Gold Coast Stadium is about the new stadium at a different location. --WikiCats 12:17, 31 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disagree

[edit]

Carrara and GCS are 2 different stadiums.

Not Sure

[edit]

From looking at the artices, these venues seem to be at different location. If this is true then I disagree. If they are at the same location then I agree.Tancred 05:17, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gold Coast Stadium is actually a name prominently displayed at the current Carrara ground on the main stand and the Gold Coast Stadium article identifies that they seem to have the same name. But, in any case, my point is that there is considerable content mirrored on both pages and neither is very clear. Perhaps a merger is not required so much as some editing. Alternately, given that they have the same name, there could just be one with the future and present stadium under the name Gold Coast Stadium, with Carrara Stadium redirected. No, definitely 2 separate articles, Carrara stadium is likely to be redeveloped in the next few years as well, and is likely to have a name change to a naming rights sponsor as well. There is no way these 2 articles should be merged - they are separate stadiums, 10+ miles apart. jkm 23:22, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Name of Article

[edit]

Given the discussion and resultant change of article name on the Docklands Stadium article from "Telstra Dome" to "Docklands Stadium" and "AAMI Stadium" to "Football Park" (with appropriate re-directs), should this article be renamed "Robina Stadium" with a re-direct from "Skilled Park"? This seems to be the trend, as it prevents: a) confusion when naming rights sponsors change b) unnecessarry advertising of companies who have purchased such sponsorships. See the Discussion Page of the Docklands Stadium article for more info. Sem boy (talk) 06:33, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I support a move to Robina Stadium Bongomanrae (talk) 14:33, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I also support the move. However, many other articles keep the sponsored stadium name (e.g. Emirates Stadium, EnergyAustralia Stadium). I would like to know why this is... It is possible that the real names have not been considered in another A-League stadium articles like EnergyAustralia Stadium, along with Members Equity Stadium, Dairy Farmers Stadium, Bluetongue Stadium and Westpac Stadium. --timsdad (talk) 01:17, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The issue of renaming stadium articles was previously discussed twice at Wikipedia:Australian Wikipedians' notice board. These discussions are now archived at Wikipedia:Australian Wikipedians' notice board/Archive 28#Stadium naming and Wikipedia:Australian Wikipedians' notice board/Archive 30#Stadium naming pt 2. Consensus to move this article to Robina Stadium was reached during the second discussion. Therefore, a move now should be uncontroversial. --AussieLegend (talk) 12:58, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well there you go... I'm going to go ahead and move it now. --timsdad (talk) 07:11, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. As this Stadium is being used as a location for games of the 2015 AFC Asian Cup (soccer), that article is using the same picture as this one. However that's of a game of rugby, which isn't ideal in that context. Has anyone got a picture of soccer being played here (or an external shot) that could be used in that article?
