@Darreg: I agree he is also referred to as Rotimi Amaechi but Rotimi is his middle name. Chibuike Amaechi is the common name here, across the web including his social network pages (twitter, facebook etc) and on numerous published sources. Check out his profile at The Rivers State government official website, which is the most accurate source for matters like this. He's known by both names but the most commonest is Chibuike Amaechi. I've also included several reliable sources confirming his name as first and last names as Chibuike Amaechi.

First of all, most of the websites listed here gave his name in full as "Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi" and not "Chibuike Amaechi", including the official Rivers State Government website you provided. Even the very few references that call him Chibuike Amaechi also refer to him as Rotimi Amaechi at some point of the same article. A Google search of "Rotimi Amaechi" produces 25.10% more results than "Chibuike Amaechi" so I wonder how "common" is really defined. For every reference you provide that trivially use only "Chibuike Amaechi", there exist some 10 references that call him "Rotimi Amaechi". I have lived a good part of my life in Rivers State, and I never knew his name was Chibuike. I am willing to let sleeping dogs lie for now as a sign of respect for your edits, but as soon as another editor finds the name inappropriate, I will step in to enforce consensus. I've move protected this page for 3 days (until 24th December) so that the correct title can be agreed upon. Please use this time to discuss here and come to a consensus. Use dispute resolution venues if necessary. Sam Walton (talk) 12:57, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • I didn't even know there's a discussion on this already. Okay, I just did a google search; Rotimi Amaechi brings up 528,000 searches, while Chibuike Amaechi bring ups 341,000 searches. From this, we can see Rotimi has 65% more searches, which makes it obviously the more appropriate name to use. Another issue is, even with the 300,000+ of Chibuike, over 70% of pages with the name also has "Rotimi" in them. This means that most of the people who know him as "Chibuike" most definitely know him as "Rotimi" as well, while not many people who know him as Rotimi (like Darreg and I), know him as Chibuike. This figures obviously makes "Rotimi" the better article name. The fact that one is the middle name/first name is irrelevant in article titles.....articles are titled based on the most popular names for the subjects (as long as they don't violate BLP guidelines). If we are to include the official names of celebrities in their page titles, we'd be faced with bulky looking titles.....that don't give the potential reader any inkling on whether he's found the right article or not.--Jamie Tubers (talk) 14:27, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

What should the title of this page be? Chibuike Amaechi or Rotimi Amaechi? Stanleytux (talk) 21:00, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment- Most sources use Rotimi Amaechi. The way the page currently reads is adequate–using the name used in sources as the page name but also including his full name in the lead. Meatsgains (talk) 14:59, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment The general reader will search for a page based on the name in reliable sources. The page name should use the name most used in reliable sources to help people find information. The real name can be given in the article. AlbinoFerret 01:20, 4 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Unless there is an inordinately good reason to do different, leave the article as is and create redirects from any reasonable alternative. Op47 (talk) 16:31, 4 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
