Isadora Duncan was *not* a "Jazz" dancer. She was however one of the founders of modern dance, initiating a natural style of movement that was completely new in her time. For the record though she actively disliked Jazz and danced primarily to classical music, especially Chopin.

What does this article have to do with Isadora Duncan?? 24.158.8.227 (talk) 01:40, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

THIS ARTICLE IS NOT NEUTRAL. Jim16 21:04, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This article is also extremely weak. Comme le Lapin 07:08, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Batman

[edit]

All the information about her being cast in Batman and then having to withdraw is stated in interviews on the Batman DVDs by herself and Tim Burton. I dont know if there is a link available, but it is on the DVD. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.243.126.100 (talkcontribs)

Blade Runner

[edit]

Why is her part in Blade Runner not mentioned amongst notable credits? It's been ages since Blade Runner moved from cult to classic. roger.duprat.denmark —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.243.126.100 (talkcontribs)

Well, her part IS mentioned, but I agree that it's rather glossed over. Frankly, since Blade Runner is 92nd in AFI's top 100, surely Sean Young's performance must receive some credit. My personal opinion, for what it's worth here, is that Young's performance in Blade Runner was nothing short of mesmerizing. I hold my breath during her entire presence on screen. I'm sorry that she's had life issues of one sort or another but someone who turns in that kind of performance can be forgiven a lot! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.66.109.87 (talk) 19:37, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, she should have been forgiven a lot! She was a beautifully talented actor, and was essentially blacklisted for years. Her loss was also our loss. Her habit of speaking straightforwardly and honestly to directors and other powerful men (she rejected Harvey Weinstein in terms he's not likely to ever forget) probably is what branded her as "difficult." Younggoldchip (talk) 15:54, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have to agree whole heartedly. Her performance in Blade Runner was incredible and she stole the scenes she appeared in. Her role in Cousins was also worth notable mention. I also felt that the article painted her in a rather dim light, focused on the negative, and glossed over the roles that made her shine.Rww910 (talk) 21:04, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tone of Article Flag

[edit]

What is wrong with the tone of this article? I proposed removing the flag about the tone of this article. 165.189.169.190 (talk) 13:37, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed it. Pinkadelica (talk) 18:58, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The tone of the article is condescending and judgmental toward Sean Young. The writer appears to be indulging some juvenile grudge against Young. This POV nonsense is inappropriate and unacceptable and should be corrected, according to Wikipedia standards. Younggoldchip (talk) 15:47, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Article quality

[edit]

The article seems very POV too much so for my liking. It does not have enough praise and is too heavily focused on criticism. Emperor Leonidas (talk) 18:36, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the description of Young as 'better known for her bizarre antics' from the lead (together with a collection of links to gossip blogs) as a blatant violation of WP:BLP. Comments like that do not belong in an article on a living person at all, least of all in the lead section. Robofish (talk) 19:27, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've also removed the 'controversy' heading, as neither of the events listed are really controversies - a controversy implies some sort of dispute between two sides. The text is still there, moved to other sections of the article. Robofish (talk) 19:34, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The "polarizing public image" is also never explained Teledyn (talk) 22:42, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

'Sean'

[edit]

If her name's 'Mary', then perhaps there should be a brief mention somewhere of when/why she adopted the name 'Sean', given also that it's predominantly a male forename. 78.149.235.48 (talk) 08:55, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not much of a mystery, most actors adopt a stage name. Once you join the SAG you are required to treat your name as a trademark and it can not conflict with any previous SAG member's name; even that of an extra that became a SAG member just to get paid union rates. 96.57.9.142 (talk) 20:42, 1 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

James Woods

[edit]

Why is there no mention of the famous James Woods controversy in the Personal Life section? Smurfmeister (talk) 11:20, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Conspiracy Theorist

[edit]

Ms Young is a enthusiastic Conspiracy Theorist with the now usual ideas about 'Ruling Families' and 'Possible Alien' rulers of the world. This seems a relevant point to make as her conspiratorial speculations influence her public comments. The source for this can be found in the Swedish Red Ice Radio interview and her Web Site. Ms Young commented about Blade Runner while on Red Ice Radio; 'Am sure Riddly Scott knows more than he is saying, in the Movie there are so many hidden symbols like the Owl and the Pyramid Tyrel lived in' . DOB

[edit]

Is there any particular reason for removing her DOB? Disembodied Soul (talk) 18:24, 29 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Disembodied Soul, WP:DOB says, in part, "Wikipedia includes full names and dates of birth that have been widely published by reliable sources, or by sources linked to the subject such that it may reasonably be inferred that the subject does not object to the details being made public." When a living person's date of birth is not accompanied by a citation to a published, reliable source, it should be removed because of privacy concerns. Eddie Blick (talk) 20:58, 29 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Teblick, I noticed that you are removing DOB from multiple biographies. Is there really a consensus for this? E.g., the Dave Gahan page has no reliable source for his DOB. With this reasoning, should not that information be removed? Disembodied Soul (talk) 22:47, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Disembodied Soul, Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons (of which WP:DOB is a part), says: "This page documents an English Wikipedia policy. It describes a widely accepted standard that all editors should normally follow." I don't see the need for seeking a consensus. With regard to Dave Gahan, I removed the unsourced date of birth after reading your mention of that page. Eddie Blick (talk) 01:24, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
