I was tempted to add a sentnce

Formally, a selsoviet was supposed to be elected by a Rural Meeting (сельский сход), but this was hardly ever done in practice.

But then became unsure in its correctness. It was surely so in early times. But does anybody remember what was the statute of a Selsovet in late Soviet Union? Mikkalai 05:52, 4 Nov 2004 (UTC)

About the postal addresses in the Soviet Union—I am not quite sure this will make an interesting and sufficiently long article, but current placing of this information in the article on selsovet looks kind of wrong to me.

Yes, you are right, of course. That was not the only reason for my revert, however, although it's one that should have been explained in more details. The thing is, I am currently pretty much the only person working on Russian administrative divisions in depth. I am currently in the middle of an immense project which is aimed to create articles on administrative units of all Russian federal subjects. It can be accessed through the this template (red ones are those not yet completed). The project requires coordination of all terminology, so, for example, the articles on raion and selsovet would not yet contain all cases (such as Pskov Oblast volosts would not be mentioned in "selsovet" because I have not completed the administrative divisions of Pskov Oblast yet). Keeping track of all this is not an easy task, so I very much prefer doing everything in a certain order. I very well understand this is not very wiki of me, and, of all things, I do not wish you to feel unwelcome or as if you were intruding. If it is your serious intent to work on those articles, please by all means do so—it will complicate things a little for me, but I'll manage; the benefits will in such case outweigh inconveniences. If, on the other hand, you were just passing by, I'd rather not have you edit things randomly. I'll get to the selsovet-level volosts eventually. I've been doing ~2–3 federal subjects per week lately, so the all basic content should be there in 3–6 months.

Again, please do not take this as if I want to scare you away—I don't. I just wanted to show you the bigger picture so you see what is going on. Federal subjects of Russia

Wikipedia editors constantly use the term federal subject of Russia regarding cities, provinces, counties, "republics", and "Russian oblasts" now during the invasion of the nation of the Ukraine by Russia. The sovereignity and territorial boundaries of the Ukraine were affirmed by the UN in 2022 post Russian Federation's "declaration of war or special military operations" on February 23, 2022 in New York City, USA. This article, by the way, began with Germans as a minority, post public notification on 1939 invasion in WWII of Poland by Germany and Russia, and German concentration camps. Wiki articles have Germans and Russians fighting in Eastern Europe for control post WWII, with no western nations involved in any manner!
